Review of Asuka

I was SO excited to go out for a date night to Asuka after reading about their dedicated GF menu which is hard to find in Asian restaurants. My hostess and waitress were very well aware of my gluten allergy and I ordered the lettuce wraps off of the GF menu. They were fantastic, but before I could even finish them I started feeling sick. I was unable to eat my GF entree because I was so uncomfortable. When the hostess noticed my distress she said, "You ordered the lettuce wraps gluten free, right?" I said, "Yes". She responded, "You didn't eat the sauce with them did you?" I responded, "Yes, I did". She then proceeded to tell me that the sauce is NOT gluten free. That might have been helpful to know before I ate it considering I specifically ordered them GF. She took the $8 appetizer off of our bill, but still charged me full price for my entree that I was too sick to eat which in my opinion was terrible customer service. Overall we spent $30 for me to get sick. It was terribly disappointing and I would not go back for fear of being sickened again. I give them two stars only because the food actually tasted great, but if you're concerned about contamination, I wouldn't risk it. Clearly their staff is not well-educated on GF.
