Review of Au Pied de Cochon

It truly takes a lot to bring me to write a bad review.

We reserved our table at Au Pied de Cochon months in advance, notifying them that we have a guest (me) with celiac disease and require 100% gluten-free food. The restaurant team assured us they are used to this and will make sure my experience won’t be any different than the other guests.

We, five couples, arrived happy and excited to experience this high-rated restaurant.

As it was our best friend's 40 birthday weekend, we ordered the best wines, champagne, and food on the menu.

As our service started, we reminded the team about my celiac needs, only to learn that I didn’t have any alternatives but a single starter and a single main course. Surprised but in good spirit, I understood and let it go. Unfortunately, it happens a lot, so I’m used to it.

The problems with our service started as soon as the first champagne bottle opened. The cork flew straight to my friend's neck, and a direct hit of champagne got straight to my back, leaving my blouse soaked. No one offered apologies or assistance. And it didn’t end there.

The champagne was served hot, and my blouse received additional drinks, white wine, and water. Still no apologies.

As I only had two options for dinner, and one wasn’t my flavor, I asked for a second serving of the starter (foie gras). I never got any, although I’ve reminded them three times. As I saw their facial expressions, I assumed they couldn’t as it is a trendy dish and the restaurant was packed.

The last surprise that brought me to write this review was when we received our bill. Our waitress decided (in front of us) to add to each card 20% service, and when we pointed that out, she didn’t even blink.

The one thing I’ve tasted was incredible. My friends loved the food. So sad that the service doesn’t match the quality of the food.

So this receives the biggest “not recommended” I can give for anyone with a food allergy.
