I ordered a steak to be made GF and the steak came out covered in sauce that smelled like soy sauce. I asked if the sauce was GF and was told no. if I hadn’t asked about the sauce I would have been glutened. The lack of communication between the wait staff and kitchen could prove to be a health risk for those with food allergies.
My server was very helpful and spoke to the chef and came back with items I could eat (I can't have dairy either). I chose the Red snapper with bacon hash and it was amazing! Please note I'm intolerant but not celiac, so I cannot speak to cross contamination issues.
While none of the menu items are expressly labeled, "Gluten Free", manager and staff are very knowledgable about menu items that are prepared free of gluten containing ingredients. One of the staff members (who is also gluten sensitive) actually sat with me and reviewed the menu. To be fair, those who have concerns about cross-contamination, should discuss their specific concerns with the manager. Tonight's manager, Sara, assure me that she and her staff will make every effort to accommodate.
