I was *so* excited about a local arepa place, as I love arepas so much. It’s been a year or so since our visit but I admit I was disappointed.
PROS:
The team was friendly. The menu is gf friendly/celiac safe. The Garage is an awesome spot in Indy.
CONS:
The two straps we tried we kind of bland/flavorless. To me, an arepa is supposed to be flavorful and dynamic with its ingredients.
Definitely worth a try and you can feel good about eating here if you must be gf.
My family and I were passing through Indy on our way to visit family and we decided to stop at “the garage” to eat. My Mom and I are both Celiacs so we decided to try this place. The Arepas are really good and the rest of the family got some as well. I am also allergic to meat and dairy so I got their vegan arepa which had Advocado, Onions, Tomato, and Cilantro. Most of the Arepas were around $11 which really is not a bad deal for lunch. If I’m ever in the area again, I would definitely come back!
The Arepas are great. I chose one with shredded beef and plantains. I had never eaten one before but the food was hot and fresh. Most of the menu is GF and I had no difficulties with the food. I believe the chicken salad was listed as the only item NOT GF when I ask. The food garage where this is located is nice because it has many options for others in the group who can eat regular foods.
This food stall in The Garage food court serves up arepas, which are naturally gluten free stuffed corn cakes. My favorite is their reina pepeada which is chicken, avocado, mayonnaise and cilantro! Everything is gluten free according to their menu and the people who work there. I have visited many times and never gotten sick. I love that it’s in The Garage so I can go out with my friends and we can all pick what we want.
