Want to like this place bc of the great atmosphere and drinks but would not recommend for celiac/strong sensitivity. Menu is “gluten sensitive” and server did not seem super knowledgeable. Been sick all day 🤢
They have always been extremely helpful in selecting foods that are GF. Now they do have a small GF menu. Thank you!
Food was fairly pedestrian with little flavor, and few GF choices. I had the jumbo lump crab and shrimp tower (an app big enough for a light lunch or dinner), it was fresh and fitting for the atmosphere and a hot summer day. We got there just as half price apps for happy hour had started, so that made it worth it.
Along with what everybody else said the gluten-free menu is very limited however Not only was the manager extremely helpful but explains why half of the menu is essentially gluten free but they can't claim that it is. for instance the bowls & alot of the chicken dishes are fine. unless if your worried about plantains being in the same fryolator, otherwise substitute.
Ask A LOT of questions!!! I ordered off the gluten sensitive menu and specified I had a gluten allergy. When my food came, there was some kind of won ton looking things on top of the Cole slaw. The server I questioned said it was gluten free. I asked the waitress as well, before I ate, and she whisked my plate away. It was NOT GF! No apology, but I didn't get sick with the meal that was returned. The food is good and I have felt GF safer at other locations. But this was pretty concerning.
Terrible place and I will not return. THIS PLACE IS NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. I am not sure why the previous reviewers would state that. This Bahama Breeze did have a Gluten Sensitive Menu (it is limited), but they do not have a dedicated work space or a dedicated fryer. I ordered my salmon as suggested on the GF menu plus asked my waiter to put an additional warning on my order. Unfortunately I still got sick.
They used to have a hard time with gluten free, and they still have their challenges. ...but on Friday we happened to get the waitress with celiac, and she helped to make sure that when they re-made my salad without the wheat crackers for garnish that it was done correctly. (Been there, done that, inspecting second delivered salad for crumbs.... at other places...) The avocado crab salad was very good, and no problems for me afterward. I'm not celiac, but very sensitive. BUT THE BEST THING IS THAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY WILL HAVE A GF MENU SOON, per the waitress!!!!!!!!!!
Our waiter wasn't sure about gluten free options. However, the manager came over and spoke me through my options, and was extremely knowledgeable about cross-contamination. I had a steak with mashed potato which was delicious and I felt fine afterwards.
It didn't directly have a GF menu but after we received our drinks, I asked the waitress and she wasn't completely informed but a few moments later; I had a manager there going through each page of the menu explaining what I can eat and what I can't eat and why. He as well very open and wanted to hear my questions as little they were. Half way through the meal, he came and checked on my table. Very sweet and polite staff with delicious food. Overall, it was a very good experience and I would for sure go back.
No onsite gluten-free menu, however the staff is wonderful at heloing you figure out what you can eat. pretty much anything grilled is a good choice.
Our waiter was very helpful. They were able to accomodate us. The options are few because they fry everything in the same fryer. Also, the yellow rice even has gluten in it. 4 stars only because with a few tweaks there could be more options here. They cooked our food in a manner to avoid cross contamination.
I found this restaurant of the FMGF app, but it was difficult for me to tell why Bahama breeze was listed as being Celiac friendly. Upon arrival and asking for a gluten sensitive menu, I was told that they didn't have one. However they would send a manager to the table to identify the gluten-free options. After several minutes no manager came. However the waitress reviewed my options, listing items that clearly were not GF - including the rice bowls. I had the turkey burger and caramelized onions, with a side of fruit and mango sorbet- both were very good. For this restaurant chain to be celiac friendly, they need to do more - clearly identifying the GF options for everyone, staff and those dining who need GF, lots of staff education, and if the manager is supposed to visit the table, they need to do that without excuse.
Tilapia was very yummy. Combination of spices and herbs make for appatizing dishes. Sort of difficult to find anything GF though
The restaurant does not have GF menu. Every time that I go I needed to explained the staff and ask for the manager to discussed with him my problem. They always make you feel that you are bother them. I don't think that the restaurant expend time training their staff regarding food allergy. Few choices!
Awful experience. Website doesn't have gluten free menu. It tells you to talk to staff at restaurant. I spoke with manager who gave me a dry chicken and dry fish options. Even their butter has wheat. Ridiculous. All spices are pre mixed. I asked about yuca fries I saw on the menu and the chef told the server that wouldn't work because it was a starch and I couldn't eat starches. What??? I left a comment online and never heard back. I will not be returning.
The manager was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable, but there were painfully few selections. The rice bowls at this location aren't even edible because they use a gluten-containing yellow rice. He did not suggest anything fried as they do not have a separate fryer and cannot prevent cross-contamination. He did say that most other locations still use basmati rice, which more than doubles the available selections. The chicken with cilantro crema was well-prepared and flavorful (albeit salty) and didn't cause any gut problems.
The manager was so helpful and attentive. Even when something seemed gf he checked the recipes for us. And when our plates came the server announced "this is the gluten free shrimp creole" which I always love because its one less moment of anxiety of - could they have possibly switched my plate? Overall, there's not a lot on the menu as is, but plenty of thing can be modified to be gf and they are happy help!
I was excited to try this restaurant based on other reviews but I was extremely disappointed. Although the manager came over to discuss gluten free options, the options are extremely limited. The only options that were suggested as gluten free were two chicken dishes and the fish specials without sauces. I asked about their salads and the cook did not recommend them. So rather safe than sorry I ordered one of the recommended chicken dishes with the recommended side of garlic mashed potatoes. The meal was just ok and I have not been able to be far from the toilet since. I would not recommend this place. I am sorry.
Chef came to my table to explain all gluten free options. I had mahi mahi tacos in a lettuce wrap. It was delicious and I didn't get sick! I also had a drink with triple olive vodka, which is the first drink w vodka ice had since going gf. Wish they'd just make a separate gf menu, which is the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars. Really great!!
Although they don't have a dedicated gluten-free menu, the manager was very helpful and knowledgeable about the difference between Celiac and intolerance as well as cross-contamination. She helped me choose dishes that were delicious and GF! Just wish they had a listing or separate menu - the only reason they got 4 stars instead of 5!
