I was told when I arrived and tried to order a specific menu item that they hadn't updated their menu which identified the item was gluten free (when it was not). Happy that the server told me about it before I ordered! I tried the chicken satay with peanut sauce as an app, and it was nice and tender but the sauce was pretty thick and difficult to dip in. For a main, I ordered the pad thai and I was so disappointed. The sauce had little to no taste, and for the cost being a little on the higher end, I was pretty bummed out. Not a whole lot of gluten free options on the menu overall. Atmosphere was nice but I really wouldn't recommend going here if you're craving thai food.
Bangkok Garden isn’t 100% gluten free, but every time I’ve gone I’ve felt 100% safe. The (amazing) waitress went over every option with me and was so patient and accommodating. I felt like she really knew what she was talking about which makes such a difference. I’ll definitely be going back soon!
I’ve been coming to Bangkok Garden for years, and it is consistently wonderful. Food, staff, service, atmosphere - I can’t think of anything I would want to improve. They are also great with groups.
They have recently updated their menu, and the new version has gluten free items clearly marked.
The staff understand celiac, and we have never had a problem there with cc.
If you’re looking for a nicer restaurant in the Yonge and Dundas area, I think Bangkok Garden is probably your best choice. It’s always our first choice.
Fabulous food. Great understanding of GF and dishes were clearly marked on the menu. The lovely server added GF to my order to be sure and reminded me when the food arrived that I mustn’t taste my husband’s dishes as his weren’t safe for me. There was plenty of choice and all cooked fresh do they were happy to adapt if you wanted something left out - eg I didn’t want tofu in my pad Thai dish. It was all delicious and I’d definitely return.
I really enjoyed being able to choose from almost everything on the menu (only satay can be made gluten free from the appetizer list, but most everything else is naturally gf or can be adapted. We got several dishes to share as a table, and they were all great. We wanted to get a fish dish that was originally breaded and fried, but they steamed the fish instead, and it was lovely!
No gluten-free menu per say but the server said she that most of the menu is gf and that they could alter almost anything that wasn't. The server could not have been more helpful and the food was delicious. I was able to have a gf and df desert which is an unusal treat for me in a restaurant.
My first review (above) was Jan 7. I returned on Feb 9 for the Winterlicious lunch. This is a set menu but the waitress was very friendly, and knowledgeable, and willing to make any alterations that I needed. The food was amazing. I had a different df and gf desert than last time (yayyy). My brother, who has no food issues, had the lunch buffet which he said was delicious.
This was always a favourite place of mine before finding out about my NCGI, but I was so pleasantly surprised to find out how accommodating they are now that I need to avoid gluten. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about GF items and cross contamination and the food was (as always), fantastic. I’ll be back!
Had done in with only a small amount of problems.
Since this place is also close to my work I have attempted to have take out lunch twice from them. Both times they put a gluten fried spring roll with the rice.
When confronted, the staff did not seem to recognize the issue with this and were very rude
We went with a very large group ( 20 people) on a Saturday night at 8:30 pm. Service was very very slow but the waiter made note of my gluten allergy and I had mentioned it when I reserved. I had the chicken coconut soup and it was fantastic!! One of the best soups I have ever had. I also ordered the satay with peanut sauce. It was not hot, not sure if it was bc of the large group or it was supposed to be cold. Either way, the peanut sauce was delicious and the meat was tasty but a bit dry. I ordered a martini which was just ok. Some if my friends loved their dishes, some didn’t. 2 people got their meals about 20 minutes after everyone else. I did not have any reaction at all and I really enjoyed my meal. I was very happy and would go again next time I am in Toronto.
I'm a ultra-sensitive celiac and have eaten here a dozen times with no issues (both dining in and take-out).
They have a clearly marked gluten free menu with a ton of options. As always, let them know about your celiac/allergy anyway, as they have good cross contamination procedures. Food is delicious and safe.
love this place, we hope to come back soon, food was so tasty and gf, you can't go wrong here. definitely worth a try if your near by
