There are two places here - cafe and bar/restaurant. I went to the cafe and my review is for that space only. Not much listed as GF except bread to swap out. It was quiet so I asked staff how they’d toast my bread (I ordered a chicken & avocado toasty). They said they’d wrap it in baking paper. I told them I was a coeliac and they noted this for the kitchen. A few minutes later wait staff came to tell me they could not do 100% GF. I asked what did they mean by this. That food is prepped in a shared kitchen is the issue. I said if they were careful and wrapped my toasty before toasting it would be fine. They said they’d be careful. My toasty was delicious. I thanked the kitchen staff for their extra effort on leaving.
Then I went next door to check the restaurant menu for future reference. They had ‘LGO’ low gluten option listed against a couple of menu items. I’ve never seen this description used before anywhere. And a big statement below about a shared kitchen and can’t guarantee cross contact and do not take responsibility for any issues occurring. After seeing this I think there is an overall vibe of ‘we don’t want to/can’t handle GF food so we’ll cover ourselves in case anything happens’. To be fair, the restaurant was super busy (Sunday).
