I attended a large private event at this restaurant. The server was very knowledgeable about Celiac disease and assured me that precautions would be taken. I cannot speak to GF menu because items were pre-selected, but I received a salad, GF pasta was prepared for me, and I selected salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes. The food was excellent and I experienced no negative effects.
I don’t know why barones doesn’t have more reviews. I’ve been here probably 30 times. This was my favorite restaurant before finding out I had celiac. Still is! They have lots of gf options and huge portions and are always happy to explain they can make the pasta sauces without the roux. No gf bread crumbs, but they can always make chicken parm etc with grilled chicken.
The first time we went, I was so excited and really enjoyed my gluten free raviolis, with no reaction. However the second visit was a nightmare. The gf raviolis came out with a piece of non-gf pasta on them. The waitress yelled at the cooking staff (I know because I heard it from my table) and their response was that she didn't specify medical reasons. I did tell her I have Celiac Disease and she assured me it was okay, seperate water and all. Well, the second plate came out so late that everyone else was done, so I had it wrapped up to go. By then I was so worked up, I was convinced it was still not safe so I didn't eat it & because I had already eaten some, I refused to eat anything that night for fear of seeing it again. The manager was not made aware of this incident until I called him afterwards. They did not take the meal off my bill, however the manager did say he would discuss it with the waitress and cooking staff. I don't think I can go back, sorry.
