I loved the gluten free menu, there were a lot more options than I had thought and the food was delicious.

Separate GF menu. BUT, server mixed up two burgers in our party of 12–one burger was GF, the other was a wheat bun. A family member visually caught the mistake before the celiac ate. They don’t use different color plates, toothpicks, etc. Two other celiacs in our party had no issues. Food presentation for GF was very plain and boring.

The service was great! The server kept my gluten free bread in the package to avoid cross contamination ajd made sure the kitchen staff knew i have celiac. I had the broiled whitefish with salad and baked potato.

I hadn't eaten here since I was a kid (pre-celiac diagnosis). I dined there recently and was pleasantly surprised at the gluten free menu options and cider on tap. I had the smoked pork chops, baked potato and cranberry relish. It all tasted good! It also came with a serving of gluten free bread. I found that they source their bread from a Texas based company that is available at Gordon Food Service. It comes individually sealed and thawed from frozen when ordered. The server wasn't very knowledgeable, but was understanding and willing to ask questions with the kitchen for me. I think the other reviews here are harsh. Their food is simple, and home style and their gluten free offerings don't stray from that.

Disappointed to say the least! I had the Broiled Chicken. Absolutely zero spices, just chicken tossed under a broiler. Same with the Whitefish. Mixed veggies came out of a can with no seasoning. BLAH and BLAND for the same price as the good stuff. Will not be coming back here.

I ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and was not impressed with either meal. I ordered a hamburger on gf bun for lunch. My hamburger was so overdone it tasted like a shoe. I like more flavor in my hamburgers. I ordered chicken for dinner and again thought it was very bland and overcooked. Not impressed.
Gluten free menu has very few choices. Bun is absolutely terrible.
We went with great expectations...GF menu and all until our waitress steered us wrong and told us the Fries were GF. Later on, after eating, all of my children were vomiting in the lower level of the Bavarian Inn. I'm sure we'll never eat there again. I had no issues, as a Celiac myself BUT when your server steers you wrong, knowing your allergy, I'm not sure the restaurant has come far enough for me to say it's Celiac Friendly!!
No
The gluten free options and bland and unappetizing. It's not worth the price. You'd think they'd try a little harder to create dishes that actually taste good. That being said, I didn't get sick.
I was disappointed with my gluten free meal. Plain chicken with no seasoning and a hard baked potato. They had two choices of salad dressings. The Italian dressing was definitely from a bottle. I have made a better meal at home using these basic ingredients.
This place is not celiac friendly. I had a very negative experience at Bavarian Inn overall. First, I was given a sack lunch along with a group that I'm with and they give me a salad with mostly lettuce, a sprinkle of cheese, and maybe 2oz of unseasoned chicken. Next, I attended a banquet at the Bavarian inn restaurant. The chef came out & talked to me after I requested and acted very irritated. Then for an entree they gave me a tiny piece of chicken and a boiled potato with no seasoning. After dinner I went to the food court, because I was still hungry. I ordered a burger no bun & no fries, waited 20 minutes, and the burger came out with fries on it. Then I had to wait another 10 minutes for a new burger. This morning I went to Oma's restaurant and had tickets for the breakfast buffet. I told the waitress I was gluten free and asked what I could eat on the buffet. She responded with "not much." I asked if they could make me something and she said, "no, that had to be arranged previous because they didn't know about my allergy." I continued to talk with her and she says, "I can't spend all my time with you, I have other customers." I asked to speak to a manager. She apologized and they made me eggs, hash browns, & bacon. On positive note, I didn't get sick. However, the staff needs to work on allergen awareness, responding positively & with care, & serving sufficient meals, as two of my meals were not at all filling or flavorful.

I scored so low because I didn't even get to eat here. We stayed at a hotel nearby and my daughter got sick with 103 fever. I needed to feed my family dinner but we were limited to take-out. I called to order a gluten free meal for our family and they told me that take-out doesn't do gluten free! If I want gluten free I have to go into the restaurant and actually dine there. Get it together, Frankenmuth! All these tourists and you still aren't celiac friendly anywhere. I have to eat pizza or my own groceries every day we are here. Not much of a vacation at all.
Our server was knowledgeable. My son and I stuck to the basics of the broiled chicken, mashed potatoes (no gravy) and veggies. We both felt fine after...not a ton of options but what we did have was great.
My girlfriend is a celiac and was afraid nothing in town was gluten free. The inn has a gluten free menu with a lot of choices. She was also excited to get ice cream. They were super careful and help anyone who has celiacs. Great place!

I had the burger "dinner" which came with a ton of sides. Applesauce, mashed potatoes, and cranberry relish were all amazing. The mixed veggies were sort of run of the mill, but butter and salt make any veggie better! The burger was good, on an Udi's bun, but with so much food I didn't come close to finishing it! Friendly staff, great prices and no reaction... We will be back!
They had a GF menu, which was nice, but that's where the niceness ended for me. I got the whitefish with mixed vegetables and rice pilaf. The whitefish was advertised as coming with their "special gluten free seasoning"; it came unseasoned and incredibly dry. The mixed vegetables were basically a California mix that had been steamed to soggy and doused in butter-water. The rice pilaf was decent. I ended up having a reaction (I can only imagine it was the pilaf). For $15.99 I was VERY disappointed.
Ate lunch here. Ordered the broiled chicken with salad with tomato bacon dressing and mashed potatoes with no gravy. Chicken was ok nothing great wished I would have chosen another entree. They had a decent selection for you to choose from. I would eat here again but choose something different.
There aren't many places I can eat out in my area that offer a gluten-free menu so when I travel I research the area's restaurants so I know what I should pack in the way of food and snacks. I recently traveled to Frankenmuth, MI and found the Bavarian Inn Restaurant has a gluten-free menu with a great selection. I had the burger, chips, a Redbridge beer and even a gluten-free dessert. I haven't had a beer in over f ve years since being diagnosed. The food was great and made me wish that I lived closer so I could eat there more often. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone going to Frankenmuth, MI.
Had a wonderful "Family" style meal at Bavarian Inn this week! How nice to be able to get the Broiled Chicken with several sides. Got to enjoy the same experience as my family and didn't get sick. Very tasty! Be sure and try the Cranberry Sorbet if available!

Little menu but pizza was good. Staff seemed understanding.

The gluten free chicken was yummy! Great options also.
Yum!! Just wish they offered gluten free gravy and salad dressings. If you are able call a few days before your visit and preorder their gluten free carrot cake. You won't be disappointed!!
got the pork loin so yummy
It was nice to have some dinner options while eating with my family at this restaurant. I had the broiled chicken meal, and the chicken was a little dry. Always a fun atmosphere while visiting Frankenmuth.
Absolutely Amazing chicken!! If you dine w/ others who can & do take advantage of the glutonus fried chicken dinner, you can get a good variety of sides w/ the broasted chicken. great service, cute atmosphere, lots of gun!
