The drinks were really good. For my GF meal, it was not great. The sausage and potatoes were pretty good but really greasy. I received more scraps than potatoes and the eggs were greasy and not how I ordered them. The gf pancakes are paleo and were both burnt and raw at the same time. Do not recommend those. They did take the pancakes off the bill, which was very nice. My husband is not GF and his food was ok, but not great. We visited on a Sunday and it was packed, so be prepared to wait. This may have contributed to the food not being great too.
Neither the CBD nor the Uptown locations will take online or to-go orders on-site. Just FYI before you waste your time.
Great spot for gluten free! We went to a couple locations a few times during our trip. They were great about their allergy protocols! I got delicious crab dip with tortilla chips and a noodle dish! The chips are GF because they fry them in the morning before the gluten items. Did not get sick.
Came for breakfast, has a menu with gluten free items marked. No gluten free bread but they offer gf paleo pancakes that are delicious. I have a multitude of breakfast bowl options, all of which are gluten free. Has a fun mix of seafood on the menu incorporated into breakfast. Waiter asked for any allergies before party ordered. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience. GF pancakes were much better than they appeared online - and more options! I had blueberry which wasn’t super clear that you could get on the menu. Crispy potatoes were amazing, but the real surprising star of the show was the in-house bison sausage. Drip coffee was fantastic too. They ask every patron about allergens. Loved it!
I was having serious doubts about my trip to New Orleans at this point. I was Glutened last night. So I didn’t have high expectations for here. This place was PERFECT. I ordered the Bear Claw Breakfast with a side of Gluten Free Pancakes. They DO have a dedicated fryer. The waitress went and asked to be absolutely sure. I am extremely sensitive. I did not get sick. The food tasted AMAZING. Our whole party loved everything from the drinks to the food. The whole experience was perfect. We will be back.
Bearcat CBD FTW!
On a trip to New Orleans for work I had the chance to eat at Bearcat. The food was amazing and it was great to be asked by the staff after I finished ordering “Do you have any food allergies? Gluten sensitivity?” And as I sat there over heard every other server ask their guests as well. Excellent standard of service!
But it wasn’t just the food, the decor, music, staff, and overall vibe of Bearcat is impeccable. There was a wait but that’s to be expected over spring break during brunch hours. Even with a wait the host was pleasant and welcoming, really had their process down to a science.
Bearcat CBD is a win! Definitely worth the walk across town!
Fantastic! Having struggled to find much in the French Quarter and being glutened the previous day I was simultaneously trepidatious and very hungry…
Staff were knowledgeable, reassuring and very helpful.
I had the breakfast with eggs, bacon, fried potatoes and their amazing paleo (banana and almond) pancakes stuffed with blueberries.
The coffee was excellent too. Given that everywhere else I’ve seen only offered drip it was a welcome treat to get some proper Joe.
Currently sitting in Natchez, MS and missing this sorely!
Best vegan breakfast I’ve ever had!! Tofu scramble was awesome :-) well worth the wait.
We waited an hour but it was well worth the wait! Shrimp and Grits was amazing! Several GF/A options. I don’t believe they have a dedicated cooking space but safe for non celiacs.
Delicious.
Great little breakfast joint with a well-marked menu, hip vibe, coffee bar, and dog-friendly courtyard.
Ate here twice in as many days. Highlights:
1. Bison sausage. Hand-pressed patties of pleasure.
2. Potatoes. Oh my goodness the potatoes. Lovely. Pan-fried to crispy excellence. Nicely seasoned.
This will be the one must-go food destination for me anytime I’m back in NOLA.
Go!
Cody took great care of us. Lots of GF options. Shared the Bad cat bison sausage and gf blueberry pancakes. I di t know what they do with their potatoes but they were amazing! Everythi g else was good but they were the star! GF pancakes were good, bit very different. Not sure what they used for them, but texture and flavor were unusual. Hubs had rhe cold brew and loved it. I tried a rosewater latte. It was good, but distribute love the oatmilk they use. Very strong oat flavor, but I've noticed that is sometimes the we case with oatmilk. Overall good! Staff was friendly, fast, and it was very clean!
We came here via the app recommendation. It DID not disappoint! Everything is clearly marked on the menu and the GF pancakes are awesome. The potatoes are nothing like I’ve ever had. Spicy, seasoned perfection. SO good! Highly recommend. They also have a separate gluten-free skillet.
Amazing food. I said I had celiac and was visiting the area for work so would likely be dining with them a lot. They brought me a free muffin for free (which was so delicious, I bought another to keep with me during work conference). Breakfast potatoes were delicious but be warned: they are very heavily spiced. Had bad heartburn after.
I was in very good hands at this place. I usually just say “gluten allergy, very sensitive to cross contamination” (because where I live unfortunately people do not always know the term “celiac”) but my server proactively asked if I was celiac and said they would take precautions. The breakfast potatoes were out of this world—the eggs and bacon were also fantastic. The paleo blueberry pancakes were pretty good—a little dry—but the butter and syrup was delicious. I would make this place a priority on your list. So good!
Owners mother has celiac so this is made to be safe for celiac and the wait staff is educated on celiac! The waiter even said celiac before i did…And the food is so good! The servers are amazing! I can’t say anything bad about this place. I had gf pancakes, eggs, bison sausage, potatoes and black beans. They do have yummy treats for gluten eaters as well who all want to go back! Also, the menu is split in good cat for healthy options and bad cat for not so healthy. Looks small from the outside but there is an upstairs.
Bearcat gets celiacs and takes solid precautions. Food was good! Pancakes are paleo so they’re kinda wet and crumbly but they’re actually tasty. Their Potatoes are a must. The wait stuff are def tuned out and kinda miserable which always makes it scary ordering with them (since you usually want a rapport to feel safe). But fortunately they took it seriously and all was well. The music out back is pretty loud and party pump up esque tho which makes eating feel kinda stressful haha
I went here twice on my trip to New Orleans. Everything was clearly marked. I ordered the GF pancakes twice, the chia pudding granola bowl and the vegan potatoes. I was asked both times if I needed the GF pancakes because of an allergy. I didn't get sick either time. Higky recommend!
