Beefeater

We were meeting friends before going to the greyhound track. We have a few members of our party with Gluten allergies so when researching restaurants, one person had rated this establishment a 5 star on find me gf in the area with gluten free options, we landed on Liberty bell Beefeater. The menu looked very promising, and we were able to secure reservations for our party of 6. No issues finding the place or having parking. We were shown to our table immediately. The place appeared to have several other tables but not overtly busy and no wait at all. Our server took a bit to greet us and when did we were able to let her know about the allergies. We placed our order. It took over 45 minutes to arrive…we were thinking they needed to butcher the cow out back for the steaks and burgers for some of our party it took so long. The food arrived, it looked ok. Presentation was average. That is where it went downhill. The steaks were grossly overcooked; th Turkey roast meal was cold, had a hockey puck for the “stuffing” (inedible!) the vegetables were over boiled as in the Brussels sprouts were drained of all color and became a mush at the touch (the kind of preparation that if it was your first time having Brussels sprouts you would never try them again!); the gluten free burger buns were half the size of the burgers and were extremely tough; the best thing was the French fries and one salmon dish was good, but all the sides were overcooked. Now, after dinner we all used the WC, the hallway to enter the facilities was beyond the bar, the moment you opened the door to the hallway you were assaulted by a horrific smell, it was clearly coming from the men’s room. The ladies room was terrible but not as bad as the hallway. We proceeded to let management know that the restrooms were not satisfactory, and the manager did not appear to care at all…if we had gone to the WC when we first arrived, we would have left immediately and gone to the TGIFridays down the road! Disappointed that we ate food in a place that does not take care of their facilities and did not seem to care when it was brought to their attention. Thankfully, we only left disappointed and hungry and no one got sick from the food. I would not recommend at all, and I would recommend the Health board to come inspect their kitchens and facilities to ensure proper handling of food.
