I read about some of their practices in an article, which made Bettola seem like one of the safer choices out there. However, I don’t know if they have maintained the practices since the article was written or not- will need to give a call.
Had the pizza once at a party and I don’t think I had any significant issues. However I agree, it’s not that impressive - especially when you have to tack on an additional $5 for GF on a smallish pizza. It will run you $22-28. For that price I need it to taste better than frozen pizza from the store. It does’t hold up well as leftovers either so when you’re the only one in the fam eating it..it’s a waste.
I didn’t get sick and they are knowledgeable about cross contamination, which rules!
But… the GF crust was not good (super hard to chew, like I was trying to tear pieces of it off with my teeth and failing). And the toppings were not great either. Maybe I got a dud because they messed up the first pizza so made the second one quickly? Anyway, high marks for safety, but low marks for taste.
Got pizza from here based off of a GF website recommendation! First- they have dedicated space and trays to make the pizza. They also ask for any allergies like gluten or wheat. Second- THE PIZZA IS CLOSE TO A LARGE SIZE PIZZA. It's not like your average 10 inch pizza for $25. It's closer to a large size and reasonably priced ( my pepperoni pizza was under $20) Third- they make the dough in house. It has beautiful air bubbles and a slight sourdough taste. I'm assuming they use something like (if not) Caputo that is wheat removed. I don't know how this place hasn't made it to Find Me Gluten Free before. Pics posted below. The pizza box is for a large pizza by the way so you can imagine how big it is!
