I used to LOVE this place, it was go to in FOCO but sense my last visit I thought I’d write an update. I got so sick, I can’t be sure what it was… communication was usual and they seemed to understand my severity as they usually do but halfway through my meal I was experiencing my symptoms. Unfortunate. Won’t be back for a long time if ever. :/
Best hamburger and GF bun that I had in a long time! I definitely recommend this place. They even mark your order GF.
Big Al's is a great place if your looking for something quick and easy. They can make basically anything GF, even the fried food. The staff was very knowledgeable about GF allergies and put a special sticker on GF dishes to distinguish them from the regular dishes. For those with dariy allergies or are lactose intolerant, just watch put for there signature sauce. It is made with mayo.
One of my go to’s! Never been sick here. They usually will ask me if it’s a gluten allergy before I even get to after telling them I need a gluten free bun! I get a classic cheeseburger or the 60/40 burger is delicious!! The fries are the only item that’s fried, so it’s dedicated GF and fries are safe (including the Buffalo and truffle …). I tried to order a hot dog once and they don’t have GF hot dog buns (or at least they didn’t a few months ago). They were willing to put it on a bun but I had to pay for the bun so it didn’t really seem worth the money. BURGERS FROM BIG ALS ARE ALWAYS MY GO TO for whenever I need something I know that is safe and quick and tasty.
I have Celiac Disease and I’m really sensitive! I know right away if I’ve screwed up. Big Al’s is one of my top 3 go to restaurants in FoCo for a SAFE and YUMMY meal. I always get the same thing - as any smart celiac knows to do at a restaurant lol ;)
I order the “ Cheese Burger with everything on it with a gluten free bun and a side of regular fries” (the gluten free bun is good - the fries are safe in the fryer.) Every time I get the food I confirm that it’s the gluten free bun just to be positive - it’s always been correct. (And I’m talking like 50/50 times) They’re always polite and I say that I have celiac when I order - they get it and aren’t jerks about it. :)
I went here about a month ago and got the veggie burger w a gf bun. Today I went to get the same thing and they told me the veggie patty was not gf. This explains a lot. Glad they caught themselves this time but I’m very disappointed about last time. Even today the person taking my order didn’t catch the mistake, one of the people in the kitchen did. Since I don’t eat beef I won’t be eating here again.
We chose to eat here because my son has celiac disease. The staff took it seriously and washed hands changed gloves cleaned area. My son says it was the best gluten-free cheese burger he has ever had and awesome fries. Our normal burgers were amazing also. We tried the different types of fries and loved them. The staff was great. We definitely need this place in Grand Junction.
Burgers or hot dogs, fries, really yummy and gf. The hot dogs are served on two gluten free burger buns, which is a little odd, but still nice to have an option.
Amazing 60/40 burger and gf bun available with fries. The 60/40 is beef and bacon burger patty. Delicious!
