We eat at bill grays fairly often, all of their fries are done in a fry only fryer so we’ve never had a problem. Ordering in person allows you to have an allergy alert which is nice. Ordering online doesn’t offer that feature, I ordered a plate with no roll and when I got home I opened it and there was a roll, which i threw away. I’m a sensitive celiac, over all about 80% of what I’ve ordered comes exactly as requested and I’ve never gotten sick after eating there but have had to send things back if they come on a regular bun . If I had a severe anaphylactic allergy I probably would not risk it.

Ordered a gluten free burger with gf roll. They came to my table and said they were out of rolls after we paid the extra 1.50…so I had the burger without the roll. Then, we went up to get our money back and they came out with a gf roll instead. So, they were not out of them. By then, my burger was already gone. Also, all our fries came out together. So..I had no confidence that mine were GF, even tho I specifically asked for them.

While there is a lot of concerns for cross contamination at a burger joint like this, I had a great experience and didn’t get sick. They have a gluten free menu online or can show you it...I ordered a black bean burger with a gluten free bun, and she took my order seriously, noting a gluten allergy for the kitchen. When it came out the bun was sealed in a package so you knew that was safe. Great outdoor seating space right on the bay. I would recommend but be cautious.
Gluten Free buns, dedicated gf fryer, gf menu, & great staff at this location!

$1.50 extra for the gf bun but the burgers are great! They have a gf menu posted on the wall. The workers are so great as well.

I've had positive experiences at the Penfield location (keep in mind the strong location is very different setup) gf rolls and dedicated fryer.
This place is crazy busy, so don’t expect a lot of customer service from the folks behind the counter. That said, they do have pretty good gluten free buns. They also ask if it’s an allergy or a preference. They have a separate gluten free menu you need to ask for once you’re at the counter which can be awkward. Fries are on the list.
