Bistro West

The staff was both knowledgeable and accommodating about gluten free dining. They had a broad GF menu, a dedicated GF kitchen for the last 5 years at least, and staff who were fantastic for our large party and celiac dining needs. We were so thankful to find this great place!

Wonderful food, and lovely presentation! Great Gluten Free menu- many GF entrées. Instead of having to "go and check" a hundred times, our waiter knew exactly what items on the dessert menu were Gluten Free. *The Creme Brûlée was delicious!* Love the fact that they have a separate kitchen for GF. Fairly expensive, but definitely worth it!

GF menu with many tasty sounding GF options. The GF Chicken Pesto was really good. Wine bottles are half price on Mondays. The service was pleasant and the aesthetics were pleasing. I will definitely go back and recommend to others.

Nice gluten free menu- mentioned it when we made reservations and they handed it right to my husband when we arrived, which is great because he doesn't like to make a big deal about his dietary requirements. He said the short ribs were amazing.

What a great place!! The gluten free menu was an actual menu - not an afterthought. The wait staff was friendly, professional and we'll trained. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend.

They have an extensive and tasty gluten free menu and I have found the staff to be incredibly knowledgeable about gluten. The restaurant has an entire portion of the menu that describes how they take celiac disease seriously an have a separate preparation area in the kitchen for all GF items. My servers have always indicated on the ticket gluten free and when the expediter or server comes out with the food mine is always identified as being gluten free. They take great care of me (and my niece, who also has celiac, every time she's in town!) which is why we eat there pretty regularly. I highly recommend it.

If the reviewer below (indicating a 1 star because the hostess didn't know what gluten was) contacts the restaurant and speaks to a manager, I have no doubt they would address this oversight. Considering most hostesses are young teenage girls, I wouldn't condemn a restaurant based on the hostess not understanding a food preparation question.

The wait and kitchen staff are all very well informed about gluten and the restaurant prides themselves in serving the GF community, they would want to know of any issues so they can fix it.

I highly recommend both West and Bistro West.

First time to visit, we will return as often as possible! Started with the Scallops,wild mushrooms, truffle penne pasta. Cant wait to try everything on the huge menu. Very Celiac aware...great menu! Thank you Bistro West!

I was in town visiting. Used this app and saw good reviews. So I called them to ask about their gfree menu and the girl who answered the phone had no clue what gluten was. None! I ask about cross contamination and a dedicated part of the kitchen...and she says- Yes- we are serious about gluten. So much that we have our own garden and own vegetables. WTH??? Bye-bye. Train your hostess folks. Customer service starts with her.

This place is so amazing, I'd give it ten stars if I could. I can't believe there aren't more reviews yet. From the moment we sat down and requested a GF menu, we knew we were in for a treat. Not only was the food outstanding, the options plentiful, and the service superb, they also have their own organic farm. I can't say enough how great this was.

Not only do they have a GF menu, it's prepared in a separate kitchen. GF menu items are salads, burgers without buns and GF pasta. The waiter was very knowledgeable regarding GF. The food at West is always delicious and fresh. My favorite Carlsbad restaurant.
