They knew what they were doing here! I got a gluten-free thin crust pizza and a pear cider and both tasted great! The waiter knew to ask if it was an allergy so they could be careful of cross contamination. I will be going back. 😊
They will give you a gluten free menu if you ask, 2 to 3 pages, then the rest tells of what is in everything for allergy reasons. I have been diagnosed with celiac disease and I am going through chemotherapy. I ate a gluten free chicken dish, and a gluten free salad that tasted good. I had a rash and a stomach ache the next day but that could be from chemotherapy, so I am rating this unsure for know.
Waitress explained her child is celiac, so she went out of her to way to ensure my dinner was completely gluten free. My meal took a lot longer than my families.
Wait staff were knowledge of celiac and cross contamination risks. They advised me of their procedures, they have a separate part of the kitchen gluten free food is prepared and have procedures to use clean gloves and separate utensils. Separate gluten free menu. Fries were a no go due to shared fryers. I had salmon with mashed potato and my 9 year old had gluten free pizza and the gluten free chocolate chip pizookie. Everything was delicious and we had nil issues later.
Kids loved the gluten free pizza and gluten free chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream, no reaction. Server understood Celiac disease.
Dining out with 3 celiacs is always an adventure. We found this place along our route for a road trip and were pleasantly surprised. Good menu, friendly service and none of us got ill. That makes for a big win in our books. The icing on the cake was a gluten free “pazookie”- warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. Yum! We rarely get dessert out so it really was five stars for us. The one gluten-eater among us also enjoyed his meal!
My husband and I have been to several BJ locations, in multiple states, and always encounter the same problems. The menu has reasonable options for gluten free, but the service is horrendous. Dinner with ordering water and two salads should not take over an hour and a half. The waiters and waitresses never come to check on us, so if you don't get it with your meal, don't expect to get it at all. We have desperately wanted to enjoy this restaurant chain and have decided now, after many bad experiences, that we won't be returning.
Knowledgeable staff and awesome food! I’ve ordered a pizza 2x from here and it is the best GF crust/pizza I’ve had - tastes just like the real thing! They also have a very extensive menu. Ask for Shawn Or Jasmine, they went above and beyond to make sure that every item was truly GF. The GF Pizookie is made on separate pans than the regular ones and they’re very tasty too! We will be going back.
I had a really great burger, they were allergy aware and careful with my food. They have gluten free chocolate chip cookie desserts!!!! With ice cream on top. It was SO good. I could go back every day for that dessert!. I have celiac n did not get sick afterward, so I will be back!! Can’t wait to try the pizza! ETA: have been back many times, gluten free pizza is tasty! Love that they have separate work space for allergies, and I have safely eaten here. Still really enjoying that gluten free cookie! 😋
UPDATE: Returned and was told by the manager that they do not have a separate fryer and they do not recommend anything fried. GAH. I wonder if they had recently changed the oil the last time I ate here.. so upset that I was lied to the first time. Didn’t get anything fried this time and had a small reaction to gluten... Oh my goodness, I had a burger topped with bacon and brisket with BBQ sauce and a side of fries. It was phenomenal. Also had chips and guacamole for an appetizer (separate fryer) and ice cream for dessert! No reaction and I’m very sensitive. Definitely feel safe here after ordering so many different items during rush hour on a Saturday night. Will be back.
We ordered gluten free cheese pizza and a bazookie. But the time we got to the car my two youngest(with Celiacs) were throwing up. I worried that it could be a coincidence so I had them take the urine test the next day to see if they had gluten... sure enough they had enough gluten make the test positive which was equivalent to 1/4 of a piece of bread. That is not cross contamination- that is something gluten in the recipe! Sooo sad because we loved BJ’s
I ordered an item that was labeled gf. I told me waiter I had celiac disease, my order was labeled with that and allergy. Was delicious and did not make me sick. Great experience
Ordered off of the gluten free menu and requested a house salad for my side. The backup server brought out the salad with croutons on it, I told her I had requested my meal to be gluten free per having celiacs and she rolled her eyes and walked off and came back about a minute later having given me the same exact salad with the croutons just pulled off. Notified the server assigned to my table that I could not eat the salad because it was brought with croutons and she apologized and brought me a fresh salad almost immediately. The experience left me feeling uneasy about consuming the food, but I was okay this time and did not get sick. I went here again recently and the server of our table didn’t seem to really understand the requests. We kept having issues at the table about food being forgotten or incorrect and with this experience, I feel like the server may have been confused or overly busy which resulted in my food being contaminated and me being sick. All in all, some of the employees are knowledgeable and sympathetic to people whom have celiacs while others treat you as an inconvenience for making them do their job. But this place seems to be a hit or miss. I’ve had great experiences here as well.
Had dinner there tonight. Ordered a burger that was labeled GF on their menu. Asked if the fries are GF. Server said she’d check and if they are do I want them? I said yes. She brought me the burger and fries. Fries were crispy and I thought wow, these are great! Now tonight I’m HORRIBLY SICK. I asked another person I ate dinner with what they thought of the fries and they said they definitely seemed breaded because they were so crispy. DO NOT trust them to even do what they say! She said she’d check if they were GF. CLEARLY, they were not. I’m so so sick now. Very disappointed
Limited item GF items on the menu. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly and spoke to the chef. My quinoa bowl was yummy. The other dinner option was a chicken/bean dish. Highly sensitive and I didn’t get sick. Bonus for this place was the GF chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream option! We indulged and it was worth every calorie.
Amazing! Order a pizookie, you won’t be disappointed! Also the pizza was wonderful
Lots of options and was ultimately safe for celiac... they did have to remake a salad even after the allergy note but they did actually remake it and were very prompt about it. Didn't try the pizzas which seem ripe for cross-contamination. The gf cookie was great!!
Delicious gluten-free pizza! I had to question if it was gluten free because it was SO good. (It totally was lol.) Plus, they even have a gluten free chocolate chip pizookie, which is a fresh baked cookie with ice cream on top! I’ll definitely be back!
I read there allergy menu and there’s wheat in a lot of their items also soy is in everything but there pizza with no toppings.
Ordered gf pizookie and bbq chicken chopped salad online. On both items i put comment that I have a gluten allergy. For salad, needed them not to include onion strings and asked for that. Both items tested safe with Nima sensor and I didn’t get sick. A couple years ago pretty sure I got sick here, but this time verified safe. Next time maybe I’ll try the pizza.
