My first time at blue bonnet. I went to the restaurant to order takeout because the online ordering wasn't helpful. The woman seating people wasn't very helpful either. But then another woman came over to me and explained the GF menu and made several recommendations (which was really nice). So, they have a gluten free menu, but then they can also make many of the menu items GF. They do have GF chips and salsa. The chips tasted like store bought grain free chips, which made me wonder why (if they are going to buy GF chips) they didn't buy GF corn tortilla chips.
Then a guy came out to take my order, and he was helpful as well.
My husband loved his breakfast burrito. (His was regular, not GF).
I ordered the 3 amigos. The cheese enchilada was very very good. The chicken was disappointeing because I was told it was chicken breast, but it was a mix of dark meat and chicken breast. BUT, the seasonings and sauces were really good.
I will go back and likely try some different items since I was a little disappointed with the chicken, but they do take precautions seriously, so for that reason alone, I will head back. I'm also attaching a screenshot of their precautions from their website.
Oh! GF food is prepared on a separate surface.

I had heard about this place many times on Facebook groups and had a coupon, so we finally decided to try it. They have a separate gf menu and commented that my food would be cooked on a separate grill. Cross contact is not a problem for me, but for those reading they seemed knowledgeable. Definitely above average Mexican but not the best I’ve ever had. I ordered some chicken tacos that came with rice and beans. I’ll give this place another try and probably order something different next time.

This is the second worst “Mexican” restaurant I’ve been to, the first being one that was attached to a bowling alley. This place seems safe, they had a gluten free menu and brought me gluten free chips, that appear to be store bought. The salsa was not good. I got enchiladas and they were disappointing. Honestly way overpriced and not worth it. Did not taste authentic or good. I think they just poured black beans out of a can. I’ll add pictures. It was honestly laughable! Anyhow, I don’t recommend because it doesn’t taste good, but I guess would be fine in a bind.

I am celiac and have been going there for years. They have a separate GF menu with a good array of offerings. I can get my Mexican food fix and feel safe doing so. Love it.

Gf menu was extensive. The food was delicious!!! We had the fajitas, it was a good amount of food. Separate bowl of chips that didn’t have cross contamination, knowledgeable wait staff.

They have a gluten-free menu that has a red border around it. The person that serves the salsa and chips saw our menu and took the regular chips away and brought gluten-free chips and he was using gloves. Really great start. The menu has a lot of GF options.

If you’re looking for laid back Tex-mex, this is your spot. I usually order their carnitas or carne asada and it’s always been great! I always dine in so can’t comment on the takeout experience, but I’ve been eating here for years and have never been glutened.

We went for a celiac event and were very disappointing in the bland expensive food and horrible service. The staff didn’t seem Knowledgeable about gluten free at all, nor what was in their new menu items. The queso came cold and lumpy, chips nasty. I remember this place fondly from years back but we won’t waste our money there again

Blue Bonnet may be safer if eating there, but I had a horrible experience and will never go back. I ordered takeout during the pandemic (January 2021), made sure it was not during a busy service time, spoke with the manager to place the order and again with the person I picked the order up from at the restaurant to relay the need for celiac-safe gluten free, inquired about cross contamination, etc. So all the right things us celiac folks do and felt comfortable with their responses. Several hours after eating though I was sicker than sick, profuse vomiting for several days, and all my ‘glutened’ symptoms. Immediately after the vomiting let up I began having symptoms that I’d never experienced before and after multiple doctor and specialists visits, outpatient surgery, and months later I was finally diagnosed with another GI condition that is considered to be pre-cancerous, requires even more diet restrictions, medication, medical monitoring for years to come. Based on understanding what causes the condition and knowing the symptoms appeared literally a few days after being horribly sick from being glutened by this restaurant, I firmly believe this was the cause of the additional medical issue. I urge anyone considering this restaurant to use extreme caution or avoid altogether.
***I have never left a review like this before and most, if not all, of my reviews are positive so I am not trying to be overly negative or dramatic but I have seriously never been so sick from a restaurant experience nor had it cause additional and permanent medical issues from being glutened. If I could leave zero stars I would.

You know how jazzed this Western kid is to have a large soda with chips and salsa?! Ask for the GF menu and specific GF chips right when you get in. I recently ordered the Quesabirria Tacos and it is cheesy goodness.

So sad, this place used to have a ton of gluten free items and now all that is marked gf on the menu is gazpacho. Bummer.

Separate menu. Good options. Waitress asked if I also wanted GF chips too, which was an awesome surprise. Great experience.
They were knowledgeable about Cross Contamination. They told me to stay away from the chips because even though they didn’t have gluten they were cooked in a shared fryer. They did bring out safe chips for me after I mentioned I had celiac disease. A lot of their procedures are mentioned on the menu.
Yes
Gluten free menu, and procedures all the way through the kitchen. Knowledgeable staff. And good old fashioned Mexican food!

Love it! Best mole I’ve had. Food has not been an issue for me as a celiac.
Yes
They seemed very knowledgable and careful about cross-contamination - I'm glad I found this place!

The food was fabulous. They have a color coding system for the menus to alert the servers. Bring you GF chips and the staff is knowledgeable.

Awesome place. Gf friendly and so knowledgable. Waitress took a chip out my hand that I thought was corn and she saved me a ton of gastro disress lol. Will come back
Very celiac conscious and delicious! No fake cheese or little portions. I actually eat directly from the side menu ordering corn tortillas, side of Mexican rice, side of black beans, and cheese and it's a full meal! Plus... great service. I would have put down 4.5 were it available because the GF tortilla chips are not so great.
Yes
They have a separate gluten free menu that includes burritos and separate tortilla chips.
The waitress dropped off chips, shouted something at us and walked away; my husband thought that meant they were gluten free, so I tried some only for her to deliver gluten free chips right after. I did get a reaction.
Also, one of the kitchen guys tried to deliver us the wrong food. The waitress warned me if we come back again to only accept my food if it comes in the yellow ceramic dishes because that's what the kitchen uses for gluten free.
Food was great, you just have to keep a close eye to make sure you're getting the right stuff, and don't try anything before you've clarified with someone that it's actually gluten free if you need to.

If I could give 10 stars I would! I LOVE Blue Bonnet!!
I eat here all the time and have never gotten sick! Separate GF menu and cooking facilities, can't ask for more! Try the mango salad and yummy margaritas.
We made it clear we were gf and a young waiter gave us wheat chips and said they were gf. It wasn't until our actual waiter came to our table that he corrected this mistake. Unfortunately for us we had already eaten the chips. Their gf menu is extensive so it's a shame not all their staff is informed.
My favorite place for Mexican

a Mexican restaurant with GF food that tastes good is harder to find than Bigfoot. So I was super pleased with the menu and quality. Not in love with the GF chips they give you but the chimichanga is amazing.
Yes
The servers were very accommodating. Once they knew I had a corn and gluten allergy they helped customize a plate with everything I could eat. The decor does not demonstrate how good the food is. So don't judge a book by its cover and give this place a chance.
Love their tamales & margs. I am severe celiac & have never gotten sick here. Fun place to bring kids.

I was in Denver a couple weeks ago. I ate at Blue Bonnet twice.
Every time I visit Denver, I try to come here. They have a gluten free menu. I can eat here with confidence. They give you generous servings and bottomless chips and salsa. They stock GF chips and bring you your own salsa.
I grew up in Denver and this is what I remember Mexican food to be. It's hard to find any where else. Even my sister who has moved from Denver as well, commented on how delicious this place was. she said "Now this is Mexican Food". Apparently she can't find the real deal where she lives either.
Yes
Tasty and cheap Mexican food.
Awesome staff! Incredible GF menu with tons of options! The food was great! Definitely a place I will return to when I'm in Denver.
Yes
Always a good choice even if you're not gluten-free. Not only do they have a separate gf menu, they have a separate fryer so there's no gluten floating around in there. Cheap and fast too!
delicious margaritas and yummy flautas!
