This place was absolutely amazing! So cheap and yummy. They were very understanding of my celiac disease. I got the smoked salmon on gluten free bread and it was the best gf bread I have ever had! I wish I lived in Wilmington!

I wanted to like this place and leave it a good review like everyone else but unfortunately I was glutened. My order was marked as celiac and they assured me that the kitchen would be cleaned before preparing my meal. The food was delicious and flavorful but unfortunately the next day I faced the consequences and was sick. I’m thinking maybe they didn’t clean the kitchen as well as they normally would since it was a little before closing time?

Great little breakfast / lunch place. Stopped in before a tour at UNCW, felt comfortable ordering. Got a breakfast sandwich on GF toast. They marked my order as "celiac".

Pleasant staff, decent casual atmosphere. Knowledgeable fellow at the register assisting with order and gf questions. Assured that when "celuac" added to order, that the chefs will take steps to avoid cross contact. Food was fresh and flavorful.

I was a little hesitant because of prior experiences about 4 years ago on the staffs knowledge of a gluten allergy. After the last review I figured I’d give it a try and emphasize that I have celiac. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwhich with fruit. It was very good. Another review complained about not having buns and it was just on regular bread - but hey! You take whatever bread you can get. It was delicious and I didn’t not get sick!

Service was super friendly! You order at the counter and as soon as I asked for gluten free bread and told her I had an allergy, she hit a button that added “**CELIAC**” to my order! I had the turkey and avocado sandwich with gluten free bread and a side of fruit, and it was amazing! Didn’t get sick at all!

I called and asked if they had a gluten free bun for their burger they said “yes” and then I asked if it was an actual burger bun and he said “it’s bread, like normal square bread.” I was really looking for an actual bun so I decided not to come here.

I ordered a gluten free sandwich. I mentioned it needed to be gluten free at least twice when I was ordering. I poked around when they have me my sandwich because I didn't think it was GF. So I brought it back to them, and surely enough it wasn't. They made a new one with no hassle, and it ended up being good!

Visited this place again and it was a much better experience!

This is my go to place to eat safely as a celiac in Wilmington. Lots of choices, delicious, sandwiches on gf bread and plenty of gf sides. Staff is knowledgeable and knows how to avoid cross contamination. Eaten here at least a dozen times and never gotten ill.

Excellent place. The staff knew about gluten allergies and celiac. My sandwich (the Cubano) and marinated chickpeas were delicious. And I had no issues.

Ordered gf burger for my daughter, clarified it was for celiac. Said the had gf buns but came out on toasted bread slices . I questioned the toast and they do not use a seperate toaster and because the bread is frozen couldn't get us another option. She had rice and sweet potatoes which was fine but disappointed in options after reading reviews.

went to lunch here...when I told them I had celiac they didn't bat an eye...everything but 2 things on the lunch menu are gf and the men behind the counter were so helpful and friendly it gave me even an extra boost to know they have a celiac button on their computer to hit to tell the kitchen special care was needed...I even got an appitizer!! My sandwich was so good and the pimento chips were heavenly! my boyfriend lives the non gf Maui sandwich. I will return time and time again!!!

Had the Mahi Sandwich - it was good, but I found the bread useless as it was toasted to a crisp and not dressed flavorfully. mainly I was dissatisfied with the fact that the waitress had zero idea what was GF other than they "have gluten free bread". it is a figure out what you want and hope you can have it when they ask the kitchen place based on my experience. Not sure that I would return, I might, but it wasn't my favorite.

This place is absolutely fantastic!! I felt completely safe and secure with the menu. The staff was wonderful and informative. Most of all the food was beyond delicious!!! Very flavorful and not boring old gluten free.

Blue Surf Cafe on Racine Blvd nrar UNCW is awesome. but the website and name here is for different place. blue surf was very accomodating and manager even came over to go over my allergens. outstanding foid in a very casual setting. family friendly.

They have gf bread so you can get breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches. They have gf black bean burgers. All sides are gf. And it's a cute little place that doesn't charge too much for their food. Nice staff. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

It's not Surf House, it's called BLUE SURF CAFE. Many good g-free selections!
