Not celiac or gluten free sensitivity. They only have 1 fryer. Not friendly or accommodating. I was told that they were on this app because of others. Please stop adding places for taste.

Ton of options, knowledagble staff. Fried foods (empanadas, plantains, etc) are not safe for celiac, but almost all arepas are. Delicious hole in the wall!

Bocata has the most delicious Venezuelan food. It’s very affordable, and a lot of menu items are naturally gluten free. Corn flour is the primary starch there. The arepas are sooo delicious. Celiac folks can safely get any of the grilled meats. Until recently, the shredded meats were prepared with soy sauce so they weren’t safe; however the owner told us they since stopped doing that - shredded meats are still cooked with chicken broth though and we have yet to find out if that is GF. The owner, Eduin, is very nice and will do his best to get information for you. My husband has Celiac disease and he’s never had a bad reaction with the arepas w/ grilled meat. It’s one of our favorite spots in Richmond. Although it’s a 5 star restaurant on yelp, don’t go expecting to have a fancy night out. The place is kind of a hole in the wall, but the food is so freaking good, you won’t care about anything but stuffing your face.
