Completely disappointed. Will NEVER visit this location nor restaurant again. I ordered, from the window, and informed the staff my wife is Celiac. They appeared to understand and made her dinner. Although she throughly enjoyed the meal, about 1-2 hours later, she became extremely ill from the gluten contamination. Celiacs beware. This is NOT a safe restaurant for Celiacs and I would steer far far away and choose another establishment to visit.
gluten free fried chicken is so hard to find, but i had heard bok a bok makes all their chicken GF and their fryers are dedicated GF. so when they were added on doordash i was so excited to try it. and it did not disappoint. it’s incredibly crunchy, juicy, and delicious. i don’t love their sides but it’s so good it’s worth getting chicken only and making my own side salad, etc. i’m very sensitive to gluten but not celiac so i can’t speak to how safe it is for celiacs, but i’ve eaten the chicken many times now and have had zero reactions/flares.

We are often asked why we don’t have a gluten free bread option. The reason behind this is because we are unable to offer a separate gf dedicated flattop due to limited kitchen and counter space.
Fried chicken! When’s the last time I ate fried chicken without cooking it myself? Wow. Everything on the menu is good. I know because over a month I tried it all. Pretty quick order and delivery with their website to downtown. Easy pick up too. I just put my hazards blinkers on.
Ordered chicken thigh with fish sauce/caramel wet rub, chicken tenders with bbq dry rub, and dirty tots. The dirty toys are fairly tasty. The chicken is nice and crispy, but fairly off balance. It tastes like they don’t season the chicken or the batter and rely on the rubs/sauces for flavor, which leads to an up front flavor but then bland behind it. It’s fine, nothing to write home about, but tasty enough when you gave a fried food craving.
I eat at BokaBok everytime I’m in Seattle. I know others have had different experiences but I have always considered myself a sensitive celiac and have never reacted after eating here. I tend to get the tenders which are delicious. The BokaBok website clearly outlines their practices and can be helpful in determining whether or not to feel comfy eating here, depending on your sensitivity.
In town for medical appointments and thought we would try this on our last night - unfortunately when tested with my NIMA sensor, it came back with gluten detected. $60 of food we are unable to eat. As always, I’m sure you would be fine if you just had a sensitivity to Gluten, but with celiacs and severe reactions to gluten…it was a no for me.
Delicious option for someone who hasn't had fried chicken in years due to allergies. They have dipping sauces all marked GF/DF/SF gluten, dairy and day free. And their website lists all their allergens.its a cute little stand and everything is made fresh to order. Their fried chicken base is crunchy without any major allergens including nuts. My non Llergic BF even enjoyed their strips. And the straps are BIG and delicious.
Food was delicious and fresh, and had no issues at all with gluten! Their telephone automated message did a great job explaining how their set up works and I didn’t even have to specify I have Celiac. I love that most of the menu is gluten free by default, and there wear just enough sauce types to be interesting but not overwhelming. The chicken strips were much larger than expected so I definitely felt satisfied.
Wow this chicken is incredible! I went back to get it again the next day. I got the strips the first time and the wings the second time. The strips are big so I only needed the three. I got mine with ranch and spiced honey. I liked the ranch the best. Gluten free items were marked on the menu.
Yummy fried chicken—what a treat! Almost everything is GF except the sandwich buns, biscuits, desserts, and a few wing rubs. I always ask them to include a “gluten allergy” note on my order for the kitchen. Their website has a full list of allergens for each menu item. I love the fried chicken, tots, Cesar salad, and rice bowl. Never had any issues!
Real deal GF, including fryer safety. Even had GF kimchi (although the taste is a bit bland.) The dry rubs and sauces aren’t super flavorful either, but the crunch and tenderness of the chicken is unmatched. I would recommend getting the classic style and using your own favorite hot sauces.
The entire menu calls out what isn't and is gluten free clearly, I got the chicken tenders and fries which I was assured were both gluten free. I also ordered two sauces that the menu, my reciept called out as gluten free and the person behind the window assured me were gluten free. The ingredient list on the package of one of the sauces calls out soy sauce as the first ingredient and even lists wheat as a sub ingredient. Eat at your own risk
This is my go to takeout spot! The chicken wings are amazing and the four chile sauce is my favorite. The changed the recipe a while back and finally swapped back so I’m a happy customer once again. Some of the online ordering sites have the dirty tots marked as gluten free but I don’t think they actually are based on Bok a Boks menu so definitely cross reference the company website before ordering online.
We did take out due to the pandemic and used the online ordering system. It was easy and kept us in touch as to the timing of our order. I have Celiac and have never been able to have fried chicken away from home. ALL the chicken is gluten free, it is delicious and crunchy. We had the chicken tenders and our grandson had wings. Sides are limited and fries are not GF. Chicken made in separate designated fryer. We went 2x in one week
Delicious!! I have celiac, fried chicken is something I have missed. Finding a place that makes delicious GF fried chicken is such a treat. And did I say it was delicious? It’s definitely made for dipping in their sauces. I loved the soy ginger sauce. You can dip it or just pour it over the top and wow! Mouth full of joy!
This is a great place for fast food. All of their fried chicken is gluten free.
The U-district location is takeout only (no sit-down dining—it’s a takeout window).
My favorites are the chicken thighs, kimchi fries, and the “dirty fries.”
The food is very greasy but it’s great! I got two thighs, tots, and cheese sauce. Too bad their ranch isn’t gluten free. The sauces I got with the chicken were the hot sauce and the bbq, which were the only gluten free ones.
Edit: I went back and they said actually the ranch and the hot sauce are gluten free (not the bbq). Disappointed that I got the wrong info the first time, but the contamination wasn’t horrible because I cautiously didn’t have much of the bbq, and I like the chicken so I’m gonna keep going there. Also apparently the cheese sauce isn’t gluten free? I’m just gonna stick with the chicken, tots, hot sauce, and ranch.
100% gluten free Korean fried chicken. Batter is tapioca and rice flour - extremely delicious, crunchy fried chicken. Very knowledgeable staff behind counter, who ensured me they take celiac seriously. The only items with gluten they have in-house are biscuits for sandwiches and a side dish of macaroni and cheese. This means the fryer is gluten free, so feel free to get tater tots or fries.Seems like the kitchen is able to isolate the few items that contain gluten (biscuits, macaroni and cheese) from the rest. Girlfriend has a very sensitive case of celiac, and she felt fine!
