Here is the email that I sent to the general manager. Haven't heard back yet.

I just wanted to relate to you my experience at Bonfyre Grill tonight. Friends and I made plans to go out to eat tonight. I have a pretty severe gluten intolerance, which often drives our dining choices. Friends that were making the plans called to make sure there were gluten free options and were assured there was. We had heard positive things about the restaurant, so it seemed an easy choice.

When I began reading the menu, I noted several issues that were concerning to me. Dishes that were labeled gluten free, while at the same time, parts of those dishes listed alone, were not gluten free. Likewise, dishes that are either obviously gluten free, or that I would bet the family farm are gluten free, not marked as such.

While gluten may not be as obvious a food "allergy" as something such as peanuts, a bad reaction can create significant health issues for me. While I understand the difficulties of managing such specialty items in a busy restaurant, I would rather not have any options than to be mislead by bad information. I understand the risks of eating out and appreciate that establishments don't have to make any accommodations or notes on their menu, I do appreciate it when they do, but these easy to recognize errors came after only looking at the menu for a few minutes. That seems disingenuous at the least and even irresponsible as far as I am concerned.

With that said, the server, whose name I do not recall (young, blond and petite) but was serving tables on the front side of the fireplace was phenomenal. Her attention to the matter was professional, courteous and genuine. She returned to the kitchen at least twice to verify issues, made a recommendation and thanked me for bringing it to her attention.

The fact that Bonfyre advertises on gluten free websites and that they have gluten free options is unkind. I do hope that you take immediate steps to rectify and clarify the menu discrepancies. Thank you,

Excellent menu with many GF menu choices. Very accommodating staff. Fantastic contemporary atmosphere. Flavor is not compromised despite GF.
