I’ve been wanting to try Bonnie Blue for the past year, but the parking has always been difficult. Today we found a perfect parking spot and got to try it. I ordered the Giant Baked Potato. I could only eat about 1/2 and did not have a reaction. I will try something different next time. Cause, why not?
My son and I got the crab cake platter which was GF. He enjoyed his but I can’t say I felt great after eating there. I would go back, but not an all the time kind of place. The menu is not marked and you have to ask what you can have, the young man I talked to had to check. I would say if you have severe Gluten reactions I would be very careful eating here. My son and I only have mild issues.
Simply outstanding food and out of the park home run service. Dalton is excellent and took time to fully described the GF options, which are almost endless. It was the first time I have had fried oysters in 20 years and with French fries. Make this a definite stop for the best GF.
Bonnie Blue is THE spot whinscester for gluten free pork. All their meat is slow cooked with great spices. The staff are knowledgeable about gluten free and they give you the best macroon I've ever tasted instead of bread. They even have a dedicated fryer for fries (really good fries)
They have multiple menus for the day of time. I've only been at lunch time. They have a great variety of different things to try. Really cool decor as well.
All and all great place
Our daughter has celiac disease and our wonderful waitress went above and beyond to be sure her breakfast was safe. She even subbed the toast with a coconut macaroon from the bakery (yum!). Fantastic breakfast for the rest of the family as well, and a cool, funky atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
They are knowledgeable about what is in their food and the GF options and are happy to help. No GF menu specific but most things other than the obvious breads, pastries, breaded items, etc. are GF (may need to ask about their fried apples though not sure if they use a separate frier) since they don’t use processed food - just lots of real food here. I ordered the eggs Benedict and requested it be served over their breakfast potatoes instead if their Pullman toast and they happily accommodated. Very delicious. Ate there again and was able to have their bbq, potato salad, and fries as they have a separate fryer. And with my bbq order they asked that since I couldn’t have the corn bread would I like a macaroon instead since they are GF. So very nice - a special place to be sure. Another time, was also able to eat their crab cakes bennie served over breakfast potatoes as their crab cakes have no fillers.
Excellent food and a fun place it’s known for their barbecue pork, brisket, kielbasa, chicken all the barbecue is gluten free. Lots of platters to pick from I had the stuffed baked potato with 2 kinds of barbecue meat with cheese and sour crème with the side of cole slaw it was delicious and I have auto immune and serious allergies to gluten I had no reaction. Waitress knew all about gluten and walked me thru the menu great experience!
