I had the GF beignets and the shrimp and grits and both were fabulous! Highly recommend.
A couple gluten free options. I had the breakfast tacos served with chips and salsa. They were delicious!!! The calas were ok. I’ve never had a beignet but I can’t image they taste anything like the calas. It was nice to have a fried sweet treat, taste was good for gluten free but you can’t hide that gluten free texture. I appreciate the options and they did great for gluten free but I can’t say I would ever order them again.
80% of the menu is gluten free and the pork tacos and jambalaya were great! Thanks again!
The staff were so understanding. The menu is 80% gluten-free. I got to have chicken and waffles for the first time in a long time!
I am celiac, and this place full on poisoned me. I ended up in the New Orleans ER tonight on my vacation.
The waitress gave me the regular gluten beignets instead of the gluten free beignets I ordered. I did not know what they should’ve looked like as I had never been here before or had seen the pictures of gluten free beignets, so I did not know I was eating gluten.
I specifically asked for gluten free beignets and was given regular. Make sure you double check!!
Fabulous! Everything is well taken care of. The chicken and waffles were AMAZING!!!
Calas were amazing. I saw reviews on YouTube and people either seemed to love then or hate them. Not the same as beignets but more like am old fashioned donut with a bit different flavor. I decided to try them and they were amazing. I typically don't go to a place twice during the same trip, but I will be going back at least once, if not 2..or 3 times! Super friendly staff, too! Drinks were also good.
Enjoyed the calas (not exactly beignets, but close enough for GF!) and the gumbo tacos. All was freshly made and tasty. Friendly staff.
Lots of gf choices here! I had the chicken & waffles. Chicken was amazing….would have liked more chicken lol. Waffles were ok. Also had the gf calas (little doughnuts) and they were yummy, crisp on the outside and soft & moist inside. Kind of a cinnamon/nutmeg flavour with sweetened condensed milk and icing sugar over top. Hubby had the egg sandwich (not gf) which looked amazing & he concurred lol.
We loved this place and went back a second time. The calas (GF beignets) were delicious, although definitely not beignets. We also had the breakfast tacos, which were really yummy and the chicken and waffles. All GF and SO, SO good.
I only ordered the GF beignets, but they were delicious! I didn’t get sick. I agree with previous reviews— I was hesitant to order more because the cashier didn’t seem enthusiastic to answer my questions about preparation. I will definitely come back next time I’m in town to order and try more!
The lady at the register was rude. She was very short and snippy with us, and when we tried asking about gf preparations she wouldn’t tell us much, and was just rude. She wasn’t only rude to us, but to the rest of the patrons as well. Got the calas and a blueraspberry snowball. Food was okay, didn’t get me sick. The calas weren’t all that, DisneyWorld beignets are where it’s at! The snowball was good though, and it had flavor all the way to the bottom.
The best!! The staff is very knowledgeable and understanding. Most of them menu is gluten free and I came here multiple times a day when I was in NOLA. Definitely recommend
Very helpful staff. Explained that there isn’t cross contamination. Food was great, especially the chicken and waffles with hot honey.
I don’t know what the standard beignet taste like, but these gluten free beignets was soooooo good!
This place is amazing! As a symptomatic celiac this place was really friendly and overall amazing! The staff were super nice and knew exactly what to do and were extremely knowledgeable! I had the gluten free beignets and the gumbo, though I wouldn’t be too upset with bigger portions.
Great food, staff is knowledgeable and almost everything is gluten free. The Gluten Free Beignets are actually Calas but still are good. Rice flour is used for all breaded items
Most of there menu can be made gluten free or is gluten free! I had the Chicken & Waffles and my mom had the GF Gumbo! We also both ordered the gluten free Beignets! the food was delicious! The staff were all super nice and the lady taking our order was knowledgeable of celiacs. I really loved this place!
Best gluten free around you can even get a gf dessert!!
The food was absolutely incredible 10/10 would go again. After searching the whole area for gf stuff and my whole group eating around me, I was eternally grateful for this restaurant. Safe for celiac, no reaction so far.
The people here were super nice and understanding. The gluten free beignet are to die for and are amazing. I highly recommended and I had 0 reaction to them. They use a separate fryer for their gluten free products too.
I was so grateful to be able to eat a beignet and gumbo. The pork tacos were my favorite part.
The food here was great! In fact, I went back and ordered more—just because it was so good! The servers were SOOO helpful! MJ and Sean were so knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. I will be returning here every time I’m in NOLA.
We stopped in for a quick lunch while exploring the French Quarter yesterday. I got the shrimp and grits balls and the beignets.
I could have easily eaten three more servings of the shrimp and grits dish as it was AMAZING!
The beignets reminded me of Dunkin’ munchkins (except warm and fresh!) I’ve never had the real version to compare to but these were an excellent sweet treat.
We’ll probably be back another time during our trip for the connivence and great flavors!
Had the GF beignets, as others have said not a true beignet but I thought they were quite good and it was nice to have a snack in the French Quarter/be adjacent to beignet culture lol. Did not have a reaction!
I’m always grateful for the restaurants that provide a gluten free alternative to something that is so commonly eaten🙏 I wish I would’ve got to try the chicken and waffles while in town but they have a breakfast menu and a lunch menu. We showed up later in the day and tried the beignets and they weren’t bad at all😌🤷♀ very sweet and doughy.
We really only went for the “Beignets” but they had some items listed on the menu GF.
The “Beignets” (a doughnut hole would be a better description), had a very sweet taste (due to the honey drizzle, and a coating of powdered sugar), and the texture was fluffier than most GF doughnuts I’ve eaten. I’d highly recommend but don’t expect a true beignet here. I haven’t had a doughnut in some time so this was a nice treat!
Food is good if you aren't celiac/have to avoid cross contamination.
I tried to ask for precautions but my food came out touching other members of my party's gluten item, and when I had asked before ordering, she told me they wouldn't take any extra safety measures to prevent cross contamination.
Small menu and the food was meh. Would never go back. Tiny kitchen and even though the food seemed fine they didn't really seem to take it very serious. We're pretty sure she got sick from the mixer in her drink though so I'd avoid the cocktails.
As others have stated, GF beignets are nothing like normal beignets. More similar to hush puppies with powdered sugar.
Awesome Gumbo!! My much better half had some regular/normal gumbo last night but much preferred this GF version. Beignets were pet great too!!
So yummy. Must do for coeliac in New Orleans. Staff are great.
Must go-to place if you're in New Orleans! A gold-mine for GF eaters! We have been looking for a place to get GF gumbo and this little nook is it! We got the Gumbo, GF Beignets, and the Shrimp and Grit bites. All were AMAZING! The gumbo had quite the kick but it was perfect! The shrimp & grit bites had the most spectacular flavor. The bites have cream cheese in the middle and the shrimp sit on top with a delectable sauce. The beignets are similar to donut holes, like other reviews have said, but very very good. All around- we were VERY impressed.
So tasty! Duck Bombs were good, beignets are actually rice fritters and were so good! GF kitchen with all non GF items imported. Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious. I tried pretty much everything on their menu that was gluten free. Gumbo, fried chicken and waffles, fried grits and shrimp, street tacos. Everything was so good, but the chicken and fried grits were incredible.
Plus, they serve gluten free beignets. I really felt like I was able to have my NoLa food experience.
Plenty of gluten free options. Very knowledgeable staff. I had the beef tacos. They were yummy.
Then I went back and tried their callas (like warm donut holes with honey). I will dream about those.
I went one last time for brunch and had the chicken and waffles. I had never eaten that dish before and the thought of it didn't really appeal to me, but wow!
So happy to enjoy GF beignets! While they don’t look like beignets, they taste like beignets.
Walked over to Bons from bourbon street for the gluten free gumbo and beignets. The food was good. There were multiple options for gluten free and the server was knowledgeable. We had the GF shrimp and grit bites, gumbo and beignets. All were tasty and worth the walk down.
In a town FULL of southern food, my dining options have been limited. But Bon's gives a welcome respite! The Casas aren't quite beigniets, but they're close enough, and tasty in their own right! The menu also offers GF Gumbo, an option I haven't seen anywhere else - I'll have to come back before I head home!
