The waitress was very knowledgeable and they have a dedicated fryer for Celiac! Said almost everything can be made gluten free. Had the burger and the bun was so good I had to double check it was GF!

I got glutened. I gave them my allergy card and asked before I was seated if it was safe. All staff seemed very confident. I got sick anyway. The chef did come out and apologize.

The menu doesn’t show gluten free options. It was loud and hard to discuss with the server. They said they had a gluten free fryer. I ordered a salad but they didn’t have plain oil and vinegar. However, the server ended up bringing out a salad with oil and vinegar that the chef put into ramekins.

DO NOT EAT HERE. They have changed locations and now that they are downtown things have changed. I was assured the tacos were gf, but they were not, and I was contaminated. The service was also terribly slow.

There are plenty of other places to get gf food in Santa Fe. Don’t eat at Boxcar.

When I asked if they had the gf fryer, the manager came out and explained their 3-way verification to ensure the gf food is gf! I’ve never experienced that. Tried fries and onion rings.

GF Items marked on menu. They have dedicated fryer so lots of fried options. Even though onion rings aren’t listed as GF on the menu, they were able to use the GF batter and make me some. They were out of GF buns so I had the only other GF entree item (shrimp and grits).

I was so excited to learn that they have a separate fryer so I shared the gf chicken strips with my celiac 4 yr old. We also ordered the fried pickles with ranch and I got the boxcar margarita. It was a wonderful experience and our server was amazing

This place is amazing. Second night in a row eating here. I am very sensitive and have had no reaction. They have gluten free batter and a dedicated fryer so had gf fish and chips, onion rings and gf bang bang shrimp - all was very good and what a treat.

They have a wide variety of options and a dedicated fryer. They also have gluten free breading available. Make sure to verify your food is gluten free when delivered. The food runner brought our food out and then our waiter stopped at our table and grabbed my meal before I could start saying it wasn't a gluten free bun. He was super apologetic and had the meal remade right away. Fortunately he noticed before I started eating. Food was very good but make sure you verify it is gluten free before you start eating.

Boxcar was the most Gluten Friendly restaurant I've ever visited. When I asked for a GF menu, the manager explained that they had a dedicated fryer and went over the menu. Our server and two other managers all stopped by to assure me that they would take care of every aspect of my meal. They made deep fried avocados in tempura batter, made my crispy onion rings on my burger especially for me in the dedicated fryer, and even even made me onion rings! I haven't had GF onion rings, ever! My burger was delicious and and the GF bun was really good! My husband loved his Buffalo chicken sandwich, and they even bought his beer as a first time guest! Sylvia was our waitress, and we couldn't ask for better. To ice the cake, they had the Big 10 Network on TV and lots of fans. The crowd was super fun and the restaurant was spotless. So glad we gave them a try.

After reading the reviews I was really excited to eat here but was incredibly disappointed. Our server started the conversation with the disclaimer that if I get violently ill I should go somewhere else, and assured us there is not a separate workspace for people with celiac. I asked if there was a separate fryer and she let me know there was but again told me if I get sick I should go somewhere else. I ordered the gluten-free chicken tacos and the gluten-free hatch green chili and cheese fries. The cheese fries were bland and overcooked. The tacos were very small, and although they're listed as an entree the portion was more like an appetizer. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone with celiac and don't plan on coming back a second time.

Our waitress Tiffany had celiac like me! Made sure everything was great. Food tasted fantastic and I did not get sick!! Know that all food is a lot of food- I didn't even get halfway through my dinner!

Fun place to watch March Madness! Good GF buns for burgers. They can make the onion rings GF, and waiter was correct when he said they are crunchy like "tempura." Chips and salsa , fries all GF. Delicious.

Love love love this place! Dedicated GF fryer, knowledgeable staff! Wonderful service! Hostess was amazing, waitress very attentive, and even the manager came over twice to see how we were doing! I have Celiac and am very sensitive and felt great after dinner--order the fried pickles! Delicious!

Waitress was knowledgeable and answered questions cheerfully, that can be rare. Avocado tempura- meh, skip it. The Onion rings were amazing though! I ordered the Cuban on a gluten free bun, requested no cheese, it came with cheese. Other than that everything was decent. Also they have angry orchard cider on tap!

I would give this place ten stars if that was possible. We were greeted by such nice staff. I notified the hostess and waiter which in turn notified the manager that I am a Celiac. He came over and introduced himself. He and the waiter asked me questions and I asked how things were prepared. They assured me that they took good allergies like Celiac disease very seriously and wanted to guarantee my safety. I ordered the adult grilled cheese with a gluten free bun and since they have a dedicated gluten free fryer, I got sweet potato waffle fries and a cider. I'm beyond happy that I need did get sick and the good and service were amazing!! I'll definitely be coming back again!
