My family of four have dined here at least half a dozen times. The food, beverages and service have always been excellent. With 2 of us being coeliac, it certainly makes a lunch out for all of us a real treat. Beautiful surroundings, quiet and fantastic food - what could be better!

It's wonderfully relaxing to eat in the only 100% gluten free Cafe in the area!

The food is nice and the service is terrible.

Had the fish and chips, very nice. Generous 2 pieces of fish, small side salad but tasty dressing. (Price difference from what's on the blackboard to what was charged).

We had to ask 3 times for water, after which it was delivered with a snide comment, very small glasses and they took the bottle with them.

I chose venue as I'm coeliac. Went with non coeliac friends who suggested going somewhere else next time due to the bizarrely bad service.

Oh well!

Food was average at best .The service from young girl at counter was worst I've had anywhere.After being so excited to have a full gf menu to choose from very disappointed.

Beautiful atmosphere, attention to detail. Lots of menu choices.

Lovely table service even on a busy day.

All meals in our group were delicious and generous. Well priced and best coffee ever.

We will return.

Just had an AWFUL experience at Bread and Water in Maitland. Was really chuffed to have a 100% gluten free cafe to take my coeliac daughter to whilst on our travels. Decided to ignore the less-than-friendly welcome, alarms bells rang a little when we were told they don’t serve tap water (only bottled water - ironic given the name of the cafe!), rather surprised that I couldn’t have scrambled eggs when ordering ‘eggs your way’ (only fried or poached). The real icing on the cake came when I asked for the strawberries and cream that came with the waffles to come on the side so my 5yo daughter could choose what she ate (she can be a little fussy and I didn’t want to risk her not eating the waffle if it had other stuff on it already). I was told this was not possible as it ‘messed with the creativity’. Seriously?! Not willing to adapt creativity to cater for a 5yo coeliac customer?! Suffice to say we left - indeed, the owner was encouraging us to go. Seriously disappointing and not a venue I would recommend. — at Bread and Water Cafe

Excellent food, having the Club sandwich which was recommended by the lovely staff who have good knowledge of someone who is Coaliac ( being one herself). Will be back and highly recommend.

Great place! I had the best club sandwich I've had in 9 years since diagnosed celiac. Beautiful Turkish style bun, crispy chicken and bacon and a huge feed.

This is the best restaurant I've found for people with gluten issues. Totally gluten free. I was in heaven. Plus, the food is amazing! If you are anywhere near Maitland, you have to give this place a try. It's a coeliac's dream come true. Great coffee, too!

Only just discovered Bread & Water, wish I found sooner. Dedicated GF. Closed for takeaway only due to Covid-19. Best GF products I've had. Staff very knowledgeable on ingredients used as made on site. We found dairy free options too. Yummo, will be back

Celiac friendly?

Yes

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, the food was absolutely fantastic. It was brilliant to be able to go somewhere I could order anything I wanted off the menu without fear of gluten! I have been a few times now and the menu remains diverse and delicious and I have never had a bad meal. Highly recommend not just for GF consumers but for anyone keen for a delicious, fresh and flavourful meal.

Only place I have found that has a full gluten free menu, lovely atmosphere and nicest staff
