Second visit in six months. It remains the restaurant’s policy that they refuse to clean the hot plate between cooking a wheat flour crepe and a GF buckwheat gallete. They do wipe the hot plate with paper towel between each dish. On my previous visit the manager explained they cannot afford the time to carry out the cleaning or dedicate a hot plate to each. On this occasion the waitress produced a handwritten note explaining this. Fair enough. They can run the restaurant how they wish. A bit disappointing tonight as there was only one other party who had already eaten (the two storey restaurant would cater for over 50). So will take a risk again. (Not many places to eat in Kyoto). Last time, was not sick. Fingers crossed. A very nice establishment with European feel and food is good. But do be aware of risk of cross contamination.

Such a surprise to find galettes here in Kyoto!. All buckwheat galettes are gf so no issues. We had the complete. I then had a cheeky galette saisisse ( pork sausage in a galette with mustard) a Brittany classic street food to take away.

It doesnt have a dedicated kitchen space. they use the same pan for all crepes, but if you ask they can clean it really well
Delicious French style cafe with buckwheat crepes. Went here for lunch after enjoying their Tokyo branch so much. The waiter was a bit uncertain when I asked about gluten free, but the chef came out to speak to us, and was very helpful. I showed her the gluten free translation card I’m using and she went through the fillings in the galette with me, and said she could clean the grill before cooking mine. I also had salad without the dressing and she gave me olive oil and some salt and pepper to put on it. Everything was really delicious and I would highly recommend this place, just be aware that not everything on the menu is gluten free and you will need to ask questions.

100% buckwheat crepes, desert and meal ones. Double check with the staff about ingredients, but they were super helpful and food was delicious! Great in an area with not a lot of gf food!

I told them I had celiac. They brought me a note in English that said their food contained gluten. I asked about their tuna and avocado salad. They said the salad dressing contained gluten so I asked to have it with olive oil instead. They happily complied. Was hoping for a buckwheat crepe (which the menu says is 100% buckwheat) but that note scared me off. They were attentive and helpful about the gluten in any case.
I went a couple months ago, but when I went I had a pretty fluent Japanese speaker with me to translate my needs (I was on a school trip) the people there offered to scrub the grill to make sure it was clean. They said that their might be a little left but that was fine with me because my reaction has gotten less and less.
I Ordered a buckwheat crepe and it came out pretty fast. It was my first time having a crepe and it was delicious. I ended up going back after a couple days and got two more.
Don’t recommend to the really sensitive, but go ahead if your fine with a small possibly for cross contamination
Ordered the complete buckwheat galette with egg and ham. Nima test found gluten.

The sweet & savory galette’s were amazing, and they clean the pan to avoid any cross contamination. I’d eat here again!

Good dish. Would come back here.
we went for dessert crepes, which were divine!
Cute French style cafe inside a walking mall with GF galettes made me with 100% buckwheat. They have desert galettes too.

Delicious, both the savory and sweet galettes were amazing.
Amazing buckwheat galettes! The crepes are not GF, but you can substitute a galette for a crepe. Had to come back during our time in Kyoto because it was so delicious!
