I loved that they had a separate gluten free menu. I had the GF pizza with arugula on top and it was delicious! The clam chowder was phenomenal too!

Server Amy is amazing! She is also GF and was helpful in choosing from the menu. I had the Portuguese sausage-stuffed cod which was delicious and Amy checked to ensure it was GF, as well as letting me know that the fryer was not dedicated GF and therefore which sides I could choose (not fries, obviously).

Food was great. I had a sandwich with the garlic whipped mashed potatoes as a side. No dedicated fryer so no fries for me but the potatoes were delicious. Waitress was knowledgeable and answered questions.

Great experience. They offer a separate gluten free menu with many options. They had a delicious clam chowder, one of the few restaurants that offer gf chowder! Got a burger on gf bun, which was pretty good! Didn’t fall apart. Items were clearly flagged GF for kitchen staff.

Excellent choices on GF menu. If you tell them you have celiac and need to avoid cross contamination, they have dedicated utensils and cutting boards to prepare GF foods. Excellent food too.

Both my husband and I ordered NY strip steaks here, I got broccoli as a side while he got mashed potatoes. These were so tender and grilled to perfection. Our server Monique was so kind and understanding of GF. The menu was extremely extensive with entrées, pizza, and sandwiches. This a great spot in Newport as it is downtown and close to shops. We will definitely come back and order something new on our next trip!

Amazing pub/restaurant! The environment is fun, staff were attentive and food was safe. Fries are not safe for Celiac. Separate GF menu. They use Udis buns.

Great GF menu. Lots of options and everything is tasty. Waitress was pretty knowledgeable about GF options. My only complaint is our waitress was annoyed when I had to send salad back because it came out with croutons. Great spot for GF dining in Newport.

Restaurant Review!
Headed to @brickalleypub in Newport, RI today, for a date day lunch. Found it via the positives reviews in the @findmeglutenfree app!
They have a separate GF offerings menu- just ask when you’re being seated. Menu in pics.
I confirmed that fires would NOT be an option, so no separate fryer here…but they have a decent amount of choices.
šø GF clam chowder! 10/10 and honestly it was just refreshing to have it after missing it for so long.
šø Mushroom and Swiss burger, medium rare, with a side of smashed garlic potatoes. The bun was 2/10 at best, as it fell apart (per usual) , but the meal itself was 9/10 YUM!
šø Cheers to the amazing drinks!
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Good didn’t come out by a manager or wasn’t flagged, but I also didn’t get sick, so that’s a win for me!
We will return!

I had the lobster roll and mashed potatoes, both of which were fantastic. The bun was one of the best I’ve had while GF. Our server was very knowledgeable and brought my food out first so I knew it was safe. Their fries are not GF due to CC but the mashed potatoes are so good I didn’t miss them.

Great experience here. My server was well versed in GF options and told me that they have a separate location where my food would be cooked; she allowed me to make substitutions without question. The spinach artichoke dip is GF & delicious- had it with GF toasted bread that they delivered separately. Will return!

Awesome atmosphere and steak! We really loved this place. Classy but fun atmosphere. Amazing salad bar.

GF items marked on menu, educated on CC issues. Salad dressings labeled GF on salad bar, but placed next to gluten contains ones? ā¹ Spinach artichoke dip amazing & scallops were some of the best I’ve had. Atmosphere is fantastic- old school New England waterfront! Fantastic bar- love this place!

They have a separate gluten free menu but food could be cross contaminated.
They just added gf pizza to the menu.... and it's real good! The spicy shrimp pizza is delicious. I can't wait to order it again!
I'm a Newport local and have been going to Brick Alley since before I could walk. I absolutely love this restaurant and they're menu is extensive. That being said, I was slightly disappointed with the small number of gluten free options. I'm not a huge meat eater and I felt that most of the GF options revolved around meat and veggies, no bread or chips of any kind and they also don't have a dedicated fryer. However, the pizza I ordered was totally celiac friendly and was super delicious. I had also never thought to try spinach and artichoke dip with veggies instead of chips, but I think I actually prefer it that way!
Very accommodating. Plenty of waiting room at 2 bars (upstairs and down). Food was okay. Four stars because I appreciate the effort they made with GIG training to make it safe for Celiacs.
I feel pretty neutral about this place. On the one hand, my waitress was knowledgeable and I did not get sick, so that's a plus. On the other hand, the gluten free menu is pretty blah. "Sandwiches" without bread, salads, and a few expensive entrees (such as seafood and steak) minus various seasonings. I got the scallops (minus bread crumbs, mashed potatoes instead of French fries) and they were good...but other than that there wasn't much else on the GF menu that interested me. I felt safe eating here, but wasn't super impressed by the options.
Yes
The gluten free menu had a bunch of choices and the waitress was very aware of celiac and what was safe and what wasn't. I enjoyed my first lobster "roll" since being diagnosed celiac. Felt like a Rhode Islander again. It's pretty loud in here and definitely busy but the food and service were good.
Love this place.....great GF menu and great location
I love this place and the staff was very accommodating
Yes
Brick Alley was very good, the staff was extremely knowledgeable and they have a separate GF menu! One of the few places with sweet potato which is an added bonus for me! Once they add GF bread/rolls they will be 5 stars!
Need to add some desserts to menu. Food is great! I have been here many times, menu continues to evolve and staff is friendly and helpful.
Chicken Au Poivre is amazing. Steaks are great too!
I have been to this restaurant a lot lately and love the pan seared scallops. The staff now seem very aware of gluten issues. a great place to take visitors.
GF menu is essentially steak and salad. No real GF options for people who want a meal. The soup is almost never GF.
I have to say I am shocked Brick Alley is GIG Trained! Waitress was not fully educated. Just had a family dinner there and I am quite sick. Had the Roasted chicken with garden salad. Tasted great, apparently it was cross contaminated. This is my first time getting so sick. Brick Alley was my home and fab restaurant for 25 yrs. Once diagnosed can't say I have even enjoyed it. Was nice to see that they developed a gf menu. Very limited and there is nothing to interest me to return. Five of us are Gf in our family, I am the most sensitive. Looks like I will need to contact the manager. Have to say even if they offer a gift certificate,. I will not return there. BEWARE. Will take several days to recover from this one!
Considerate and knowledgable of celiac. Friendly staff amazing food
