The management and staff have no idea about celiac safe/gluten free eating. Cross contamination everywhere. 5 different answers. Why even offer a gluten free bun if you can't even verify if the patty is safe and how it is prepared. A complete let down. Corporate should be made aware. Fryer is shared.
We visited the 71st street location, assuming they'd also have a dedicated fryer since the other two locations on the app show that - turns out they don't. Manager told me that although they have a fryer that's supposed to be dedicated just for fries, she and the kitchen manager can't guarantee that non-GF items haven't been fried in it and cross contaminated. I appreciate the full disclosure, but am disappointed that their kitchen is run so poorly they can't trust the staff. I feel like I'm rolling the dice on even the GF bun. This will be our first and last visit.
Every time we go I have no probably getting advised on what is safe and what is not. my defaults are the uber cheeseburger and the breakfast burger. I have never had a reaction so it is safe. my sensitivity seems to fluctuate based on my health but even at its worst, I am fine.
I have CD and visited for the first time tonight. Waitress told us there was only GF buns and pizza crust, and none of the sides were GF. We almost got up and left, and then she came back and informed us the regular fries and sweet potato fries were GF and cooked in a separate frier. Wasn't feeling very confident that this was a safe place to eat when nothing on menu is labeled and server doesn't know.. Ordered a burger with a GF bun and sweet potato fries, but the service took a very long time that we had to ask if our food was coming out soon. Luckily, the manager came out and apologized for the long wait and told us our meal was on them, and also gave us two free entree coupons for next time, I'll give them an extra star for that. The food overall was eh, GF bun wasn't that great, and my patty was very small. Having a small reaction, probably not celiac friendly.
They have really good burgers, and most can be modified to be gluten free. They also have a fantastic new GF bun that you cannot tell is GF (used to serve Udi's). They have amazing cobb salad, nachos, sweet potato fries, and a fair amount of other GF options. No beer, though, and their regular fries are coated in flour.
Love this place because of the save shoestring fries. But tonight I asked just to be sure and they've changed their dedicated fryer. They are no longer safe. I also asked about the possibility of beer in the bbq sauce and was told there's none in there. Then he changed his mind and said yes there is, it's a stout, but not to worry because it's not any good. I won't ever be back.
I told the server that I needed gf and asked how safe it was. I told her I didn't want the fries if they were cooked with other things. A minute later, the manager came to our table and explained their procedure when handling allergies. Wonderful food, great atmosphere! ***I'm not claiming safe for celiac because this might vary depending on location and staff.
GF items were clearly marked on their old menu, but not on the new one. Our server knew all the items off the top of his head. Most burgers can be made GF, but watch for fried onions and the house BBQ sauce, which have wheat or beer in them (it iS a brew pub). Both boys loves their burgers. Though not all are listed as GF, they were happy to serve them on GF buns. The salads were spectacular, too.
I was able to order a cheeseburger on a gluten free bun. (I think it was Udi's.) I requested the sauce on the side. (similar to thousand island dressing.) They told me the sweet potato fries were gluten free, but then when it came, told me it was fried with breaded items. I chose not to eat it because I'm very sensitive. After asking multiple questions, I found out the bacon potato salad was gluten free. It was very good, although a bit heavy on the rosemary. Overall, the food was pretty good. Next time I'm going to ask for my meat to be cooked to medium (they cooked it well done) so it isn't quite so dry. They also have apple orchard gf hard cider. I didn't get it, but it is available. The waitstaff weren't very knowledgeable but were willing to ask and at one point I had 3 servers helping me even when it was busy. Overall, I'd recommend but be very explicit.
There are clearly marked GF items on the menu and they have a GF bun available (a pretty good one) to make their burgers GF. Two appetizers is two more than I am used to seeing. They also have one GF beer and a cider.....so, I didn't have to order hard liquor. Pretty good in my book.
