Incredible food & knowledgeable staff. Dedicated GF frier. Fries & clam chowder alone are worth a drive across country... the views just add to the incredible edible GF experience.
Went there twice in one weekend trip to Astoria! Delicious and most everything was, or could be made, gluten free. Also able to accommodate my dairy free hubby.
I’m celiac and love this restaurant. So many GF choices and the staff is well trained to accommodate. We eat here any time we are in the area. I love the calamari, pan fried oysters, & seafood cakes. All so good!!
While on a week vacation, my husband and I stopped here twice. I am a sensitive celiac and did great both times. The first time I had the chowder, a salad with pesto chicken, and a chocolate dessert. Yum! The second time I had chowder and split fish and chips with my husband. The breading on the fish was outstanding and my non-gluten free husband was even impressed. They were large pieces of fish. Out of three fish and chip meals while on the coast, this was by far the best. Both waitresses were very knowledgeable when questioned and seemed more than willing to help (a real winner there!). This should be at the top of your list if you are a celiac when visiting the northwest coast of Oregon!
Absolutely incredible. Almost everything on the menu is GF!! All of the fried items on the entire menu are GF, so completely safe fryers! I had crab cakes (for the first time in a decade!) and fish and chips. Service was impeccable and the food was the best I’ve had in a long time!! AND, most importantly, I’m not sick!!
Everything on the lunch menu was either GF or adaptable to be GF (by swapping out bread, etc). The GF dinner rolls were AMAZING and we asked if we could buy their hamburger buns - we've never had better since going GF. And my very sensitive celiac wife did NOT get contaminated!
Gluten free fish n chips and chowder! Enough said.
The food was really, really good. Tons of gluten free options. Tells you on menu. Macaroni and cheese with baby shrimp and a gf panko breading on top. Really good, but could of used a little more cheese. Was a little soupy. Also had seafood cakes( like a crab cake but with different fishes). That was super good. Had ciappino. Was good but a little to tomato saucey. Great atmosphere. Get to look out at the ocean through wall of windows.
Wow!! This place is a gem! :) They have gluten free options that are amazing! You can almost feel normal.
Excellent service and attention to my dietary needs, both gluten free and dairy free. Fish and chips was light and crispy outside and tender flaky inside.
The wait staff is very educated and professional about allergies. The fish and chips were great and could be done both GF and DF. They had great flavor and were cooked firm just as it should be. Dessert was a watermelon basil sorbet that tasted fantastic.
This must be what heaven is like.... almost everything is GF, and to die for. I wish there was a restaurant this good at home. The fish and chips was so delicious, the breading so light and not greasy at all, I couldnt tell I was eating fried fish at all. Oh gosh and the cobbler!!
Lots of GF options. I had a cup of excellent chowder and very tasty fish and chips. I’m thinking about coming back for dinner.
Forget that most of the menu is gluten-free – the food is great! The service is great! The location is great! Eating out when you eat gluten free can be challenging unless you encounter a gem like Bridgewater Bistro! We cannot say enough good things about this place! Our server, Steve, was friendly, personable and professional. We enjoyed the clam/mussel chowder, seafood cakes and fried oysters. The Italian bread was outstanding. Everything was wonderful including the rum julep cocktail we ordered. We recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Enjoy!
Beautiful restaurant, wonderful food. Delicious home made gluten free bread!
So yummy that we went back for a second meal on our 1 night stay in Astoria. Loved the GF fish and chips and calamari and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Best fish and chips ever! I was also a fan of the coleslaw, and I hVe never liked coleslaw. Can't wait to eat here again!
Kitchen staff is unbelievably knowledgeable and the food was incredible, some of the best gluten-free fish and chips I have ever had!
This is a gf gem of the pacific northwest!!! We heard some folks travel from Portland just to eat here. We can see why. totally celiac friendly, it is essentially a gf full service restaurant. Don't have to ask for gf menu, everything incorporated, and everything tastes great lunch or dinner. owners wife is celiac and this is a no no we about it high quality that just happens to be gf prepared or adapted. Can't stop racing about this wonderful find.
Bridgewater Bistro is a great restaurant with a very nice selection of gluten free options. We ordered a few plates to share and all of them were incredible! The lamb lollipops and house chowder were the highlights, but the grilled prawns and arugula salad with prosciutto were also delicious. The menu is clearly labeled with GF or GF-A (can be made gluten free with some modifications) and the staff is very knowledgeable. One of the owners has Celiac, so even though the restaurant isn't a 100% dedicated GF facility (the menu is about 90% GF), it is as close as it gets and they are extremely careful when preparing GF food.
A little pricey, but delicious and very gluten-aware. They also have other food-sensitive dishes (non-dairy, etc). And the location is beautiful - right on the water.
Great service and good variety on the menu. My favorite place to eat in Astoria
Wait staff well informed about gluten issues and very accommodating for other allergies also, like dairy and nut (I learned from eavesdropping at the other table). Waitress was happy to ask the chef what she didn't know. House-made GF Bread super yummy and didn't fall apart even though there was a ton of turkey on my sandwich. Corn/rice battered cod so good, and I'm picky about my fish! bonus points for multiple GF beer and ciders. All deserts were GF and brownie sundae amazed us. Great view also. Normally we stay in Cannon beach and take a day trip to Astoria, but soon I will be staying in Astoria just so I can try brunch, happy hour and dinner since lunch was so great. Will be back ASAP!
Amazing!!! Celiac 0 reaction love this place!
I would make their gf fish and chips one of my last meals. Super fresh Not greasy. And many gf safe dessert options.
Very accommodating for Celiacs and other food sensitivities. Large wine selection. Delicious seafood & steak! Will definitely return.
I am celiac and I really enjoyed this place. Lots of GF options, very knowledgable and pleasant server, great water view and atmosphere. My husband and I went for dinner. It felt very "date night" and that was nice. I got the fish and chips -- not as crispy as I was expecting but very good. Dedicated fryer. And many GF dessert options too. I got the chocolate silk pie and it was delicious! So rich. Felt very comfortable and would definitely go back.
Excellent food. Owner is Celiac so they really get GF. Almost the entire menu is GF. Fried oysters and french fries were outstanding! Highly recommend for everyone, not just for us that have to eat GF.
We may have to move to Astoria just so we can eat here on a regular basis. We went here twice, (lunch and dinner) and each time the servers were incredibly knowledgable, even double checked ingredients, like if the Cajun seasoning was GF. Almost everything on the menu is GF adaptable if it's not already GF. The sandwich bread is delicious - not dusty or gritty like GF bread can be. Soups are heavenly; the cioppino is scrumptious. It's so enjoyable to eat in such a gorgeous setting (right on the water) and also with such peace of mind that there is extremely low risk of cross-contamination.
WOW!!! this place is fabulous!!! All the desserts are gf. The 3 we had were insanely great!!! I had fish & chips, wow!!! ALSO had the crab & artichoke dip on gf toast points. CRAZY GOOD!!!
Every time I am in Astoria this is a go to for me. Very safe very accommodating. desert menu was 100% gf!
This place was amazing with so many gluten free options. The fish and chips where out of this world. The whole dessert menu was gluten free too 😍
One of the owners has celiac. No words for how fabulous this place is.
We love this place! The wait staff was so helpful and knowledgable about gluten free. Also they were super sweet to our kids. We will definitely return many times. We had the bacon jam burgers-they were so delicious!!!
I was shocked to see how plentiful (and unexpected) the GF options were here ... I had the fish and chips and we had both fried and raw oysters and all were GF. I'd go out of my way to get to Astoria to eat here. I asked the server how on earth they wound up with such a GF-friendly menu, and she said the owner or chef (I can't remember which, or both) is celiac, so they're real-deal celiac-friendly. The fish and chips were the best I've had since going GF, and our server was delightful about my special needs.
Stopped by on Labor Day weekend (Saturday) w/ no reservation. Wait was about 1 1/2 hour. We decided to sit in the bar area and order dinner right away. Bar was busy but staff were friendly and helpful. I have Celiac and after talking to staff about my concerns, I felt safe eating here. The food was delicious. I will definitely go back when I am in town.
incredible food and about 90% of the menu is GF, including a Ruben, calamari, fish and chips and amazing deserts. great value for your money, excellent service and beautiful atmosphere. a must!
Celiac safe and delicious! I had a hamburger without a bun with bacon jam and it was soooooo yummy! French fries too! Plenty of kid options as well and my mom had a beautiful salad. I'm currently dairy & egg free and was still able to eat a delicious meal.
Not only is the setting beautiful but the food is fantastic! Mostvof their menu is naturally gf or can be easily made gf. When I asked our server if the gf fish & chips were cooked in a designated frier she responded by telling me the owner's wife, daughter, & granddaughter all had celiac & the restaurant is celiac safe. I had the fish & chips while my husband had clam chowder. We both enjoyed everything!
Omg this place is knock you socks off amazing!! Perfect blend of favors, portions are perfect and the GF options are the most I've seen in a long time. The dessert menu alone was worth the trip. Seriously you need to eat here you will not regret it.
They only have gluten free fryer. They do not fry any gluten items at all. Super good!
Loved that their menu was very clear and many options offered. Chicken strips were great (just wish you got enough to make a meal). Clam chowder I was told was yummy. gF bun for sandwich was pretty good.
Great GF options. Their default menu is pretty much GF. Didn't have to ask for a special menu. We go there every time we pass through Astoria.
Nice selection of gluten free foods and deserts. Creative kitchen with careful attention to presentatin of well prepared foods.
A safe harbor for gf diets. Nice to feel safe with what you order. Dinner was yummy . Desserts were out of this world. An apple cheesecake with a caramel sauce. A flourless chocolate cake with a marionberry sauce & an apple/cranberry cobbler. The sizes are small, my husband & I shared the three desserts - yum. We returned the next day for brunch & enjoyed the wonderful lemon curd with a warm muffin.
Most of the menu here is or can be made gf. They are very aware of cross contamination issues ( I believe one of the owners may be gf by necessity). It's a bit of a splurge for my family but one we will happily make a couple of times a year as the food really is very good. Bonus that they always make my kids feel welcome which isn't always the case in higher end restaurants.
This continues to be my favorite place to eat in Astoria. Very good gluten free options. They really understand what GF means. My favorites this vacation: Hungarian mushroom dill soup, chili lime shrimp, Mayan salad, and GF French fries. They really understand what GF means. My idea of gastronomical GF heaven is eating here for the rest of my life.
Great for lunch. Everything we had was good and they were very careful with gluten free. They also had cider on tap and bonus points for offering Happy Camper brand bread. Owner has celiac. I posted on this place a few years ago and didn't have such a great experience. But this was a good experience. My daughter with celiac was just fine.
Great food and yes, gluten free options galore. A must eat!
What a great place! Great, helpful, understanding staff. Someone on staff told us that the owner is gluten intolerant and so that's why they have so many options and that it actually tastes great. In fact, if I remember right, the whole menu is gluten free except maybe three items. I think most of the patrons don't even know its gluten free! Great atmosphere too - its a converted cannery right on the water.
