Came here based on the below review from GlutenFreeStreetGang below, but also from his London primer. I have to say, this didn’t disappoint. And compared to Dishoom, with their 4 safe items, this was heaven. So many options!
We walked in and sat at the bar. Got the scallops and chicken wings. I knew right away that these flavors were amazing and this is a truly special restaurant. Got the eggplant Briyani for my main meal. Absolutely massive and also delicious. On our way out, the bartender offered us a glass of a mango, chia seed, yogurt drink on the house. Oh my gosh it was so good. I’d order it next time.
Anyway, go here. So many amazing flavors. An absolute treat for us gluten free folks.
Amazing food and very attentive service. The food was top quality and we were all stuffed, the biriyanis were massive! I have coeliac disease, and the waiter gave me the allergen menu and did advise that there were still some items on their that were not marked as gluten containing, but were fried in the same frier so these would not be suitable for me. There are plenty of options that they can also adapt to be gluten free and they even bring out an alternative with the poppadom's. He ensured that everything I ordered was gluten free, so I felt confident eating here. They also have plenty of TV screens, so a good place to watch sports whilst you eat.
Brigadiers is one of my favorite restaurants in London. The food is absolutely delicious and is my favorite Indian restaurants I’ve been to. You’ve gotta get the beef shin biryani - with no bread topper -, the cheese and onion bhaji, the paneer, and the cauliflower. The lamb chops are great, too.
For gluten free safety - they have an entire separate gluten free menu, have gluten free fryers, and are extremely aware on allergens. In my experience, the waitstaff are well trained, and are happy to walk you through their preparation procedures. They strike a great balance, in my mind, between looking out for you without being overbearing. They’ve claimed to be celiac friendly to me, though I’m not sensitive to cross contact so my experience may not be universal. I do feel comfortable eating here, though.
I will say for any of their mini sandwiches, their gluten free bread isn’t great. The waitstaff will tell you as much. Save your appetite for one of the other outstanding things in their menu.
Very detailed allergen menu. The first thing the server asked when we sat down was if anyone at the table had any food allergies or intolerances. Every time my food came out, they specifically said it was prepared gluten-free. LOTS of GF options (most of the menu is GF!). And on top of how attuned the restaurant was to allergies, the food was incredible. Everyone loved their meal. I specifically recommend the Indo Chili paneer lettuce cups—SO good. Highly recommend, can’t wait to come back.
