We just moved to the area and were without a kitchen for three days. Butter was my go-to place! Healthy, delicious food, friendly and helpful waitstaff, and no allergy problems! I can’t have gluten, dairy or soy. I’ve been three times and no issues whatsoever :) my no-allergy partner likes it too 👍🏽 😆
I ordered the scramble with gf toast like I always do. They served me regular toast and I didn't find out until I took a bite and noticed it was the wrong texture. They didn't even care. They still charged me the upcharge for gf toast! When I asked for the manager she refused to come to the table and just took off the upcharge. I will definitely not be back.
I had no problems with the food. But the service was beyond horrible. We waited at least 20 minutes before someone took our order. Then the food took over a half hour to arrive. This was on a weekday. Omelette was way overcooked. The onions were microscopic. Will not be back.
The first time I went there, I ordered gf waffle. It tasted soooo weird and then I found an ENORMOUS piece of onion in the waffle! Cross contamination alert!!!!! Also their coffee tastes burned and is disgustingly strong. No one in my party wanted to drink it. The menu is super overpriced and it really is nothing special. Not a unique place and too expensive, cramped and loud inside, and not very good service. Been there 3 times, will never go back.
We eat at the Butter Cafe often and love it. Great food and drinks...even the decaf is great and the hot chocolate is to die for! GF waffles and bread (for lunch I always get the GF BLT w/avocado and the house potatoes). I am gluten intolerant and my fiance has celiac. We have never had a problem. Don't forget to try the GF desserts!
The sandwich was great! The seasoned potatoes were gluten free and heavenly. The gf chocolate chip cookie was a bit dry. I believe the owner is gluten and dairy free.
Great breakfast, gluten free bread, great GF fried potatoes and really nice service.
Butter Cafe is one of the better options in Dayton, especially if you are a gluten-free eater. I'm not, but was brought here by my gluten-free sister about 8 months ago. I'm shocked the coffee isn't more popular in the reviews on this site. The coffee is full-bodied and brewed to perfection. It's true they charge per cup, but so do coffee shops that offer the same quality coffee. Food was also delicious and served in generous proportions.
Expensive but pretty good and lots of gf options. Potatoes ARE gluten free despite what a previous poster said
Being GF friendly is not enough. Coffee is bad (& they charge per cup - in a breakfast cafe?!!!) and cups don't keep coffee warm. Service was bad 3 out of 4 visits. GF waffle maker out of service once (that's why we went!). Chairs are so cheap they are downright dangerous. Wanted so bad to love it. Too bad as GF breakfast out is hard to find!
Very loud. Prices are high. Drinks are in jelly jars. Surprised that the gluten free bread is that old dense rice flour bread that is awful and flavorless However, the omelet was good. The coffee is very strong they put a large basket of creamers on the table but if you like black coffee that's no good. The potatoes aren't gluten free and I got charged 1.50 extra to substitute gluten free toast that was rot gut. Breakfast for two people was about $23
