Buttercup Ice Creams & Chowders

Great ice cream (didn’t get to try the chowders but they sound good). GF comes available. I had vegan ice cream (coconut-based ginger ice cream that was terrific) and my wife had dairy-based with the GF cone. They label everything and are aware but did warn us of the chance for cross contact in the kitchen with the home made GF cones.

All chowders were GF.

Very good! All of the chowder is GF and very tasty:) I had the NW chowder and salad and it hit the spot! They have out door covered seating with heaters, very relaxing. I am celiac and didn't get sick at all.

Great place for gluten free chowder and salad. We didn’t try the ice cream. They have gluten free ice cream and cones but looked like they use same scoop and ice cream for all cones so didn’t risk it. We’ve been here a few times and the chowder is always good with unique choices.

Amazing gf hearty soups, ice cream options, and ice cream cones :) just can’t have the bread that comes with the soup. Felt great after, went for a hike. (Gf allergic but not celiac)

Was excited to try the chowder & ice cream but saw loaves of unwrapped bread on the counter. The person at the counter didn’t seem to understand what Celiac was. When we asked about dedicated GF space we were told that they are a full kitchen and can’t guarantee that anything is entirely gluten free. Not worth the risk.

Really delicious chowder and ice cream (cow and dairy free). One of the owner’s friends has celiac, so they understand how to handle our needs. Definitely stop by here!

We had the NW Clam Chowder (SO GOOD...FULL of veggies & clams), the Smoked Oyster Chowder (also good, but the NW was better), Ruby Chocolate ice cream on a gf cone, and Vegan Cherry Chip on a gf cone (both incredible ice creams and delicious cones!).

We will definitely be back!

We stopped here on our way up to Astoria & are super glad we did. My son had the marshmallow ice cream & I had the veggie chowder which was delicious & my ice cream was delicious, I can't remember the flavor but it had elderflower in it. The honey lavender lemonade is outstanding. They have a covered deck out back that is dog friendly which is great for people traveling with their dogs.

This place is incredible! Amazing assortment of homemade ice cream, both regular and dairy free, and **gluten free cones**! They are also homemade and totally unique: crunchy, not too sweet, and perfectly complementary to the ice cream. What a treat! Chowder looked incredible and gets rave reviews too, also gluten free. This is a must stop on the Oregon Coast!!
