Buttermilk Bakeshop makes gluten-free birthday cakes that can be ordered a few days ahead. We’ve ordered different kinds with great success. They are always delicious with tasty frosting. The crumb can be slightly dry, but it’s worth it for me and our gluten-free friends.

The most recent time I picked up a cake I thought I’d try a peanut butter bar. I realized later that the rice crisps in the bar were probably not gluten free, enduring a minor glutening during our friend’s birthday weekend.

Order a cake! But buyer beware on the counter baked goods.
