I have been wanting to go into this restaurant for at least two years. Me and a group of friends drove in from Houston and made reservations for our birthdays to eat here over a month ago on August 6th. I am heartbroken and appalled at how we were treated last night. We walked in the restaurant with our whole party at 7:15 with a 7:30 reservation I promptly checked in and told them our party was here with two children. Fyi when I made the reservation I put in the notes that there were two children with us and I called and spoke to a lady and was told that would be fine.

We had a horrible experience with James Welliver your operations manager. When I checked in I was told that we would not be seated with our children that they would only seat six people keep in mind my son is only two and could sit in my lap and the other child is 8. Other patrons who observed what was going on and had two extra seats at their table and said that two of us could sit with them, the manager promptly said no we won’t do that either. We offered to split up our party even more and wait another hour just to be seated and he told us NO! The manager clearly just didn’t want to seat us regardless and the restaurant tons of open seating. There would be no other reason for this, except that they did not allow children in the restaurant or that we were people of color. Which if children are not allowed in the restaurant that clearly needs to be stated on the website!

While this was going we notice a young lady Emily waiting there as well. She was clearly disabled with a walker and a small service dog in a bag. She was visibly upset and told us that she had a reservation as well, and that she was told she would not be sat because James told her “I don’t believe you have a disability” “ I don’t believe your dog is really a service dog.” The woman had a brace on her leg, a walker, and a dog with a very official service badge in a small container. I’m not sure how you could deny a disabled woman service! The lady was celebrating her birthday alone!!! She drove in from Dallas just to eat at this restaurant and was denied service. She was told to sit in a corner and wait until the owner of the restaurant got there and that he would be there in an hour. What was even more heartbreaking and appalling is that the lady who was wearing a kneelength skirt actually lifted her dress just a little bit to show James that her knee was mangled that was beyond words for me. How could anyone treat another human being so beyond humiliating and in front of so many people.

At this point other patrons started noticing what was going on and became visibly upset and left. The police were called and James Welliver blatantly lied to the police officer and told him that we did not have a reservation and that he had the right to deny service to anyone. I showed the police officer not only my email confirmation but as well as all the text messages confirming that we would be there from the restaurant.

We were promptly escorted off the property not that we wanted to eat there after how we were treated. This place should not even be allowed to be in operation. They are non-inclusive to people of color, children, and or people with disabilities James Welliver is a terrible human being and should not be allowed to be in working in the service industry.

I felt very safe eating here. The server provided me with an allergen list menu, and let me know there would be a dedicated chef in the kitchen handling only my food. I had the stuffed quail and sweet potatoes, so good!

Excellent service and excellent food. I had the salmon with chimichurri and it was so good. Our server, Rich was very helpful in figuring out what I could and couldn’t eat. Reservations are highly recommended, we were lucky and snagged an outdoor table without a reservation.

The waiter was helpful and knowledgeable about how the food was cooked and what was gluten free. The only hard part about eating here was deciding what to order. I highly recommend the Arugula salad and their steak.
