This cafe is amazing. A great menu with a lot of options and really good coffee drinks. It is close to my office so it's a great place to get coffee or lunch. They use local products, which makes the food taste clean and fresh. I have a severe gluten intolerance and have never been sick after eating here. Their gluten free bread is delicious and definitely worth the price. I'm a regular so Fae knows to mark my order as celiac and Terrell always takes precautions to make sure there is no cross contamination. They are very friendly and personable and I'm so glad I found this little gem!
I was in a bind, headed to the airport and didn’t have time to cook anything. Found Cafe 160 through the Find me GF app. Went by, placed an order for chicken tacos and explained the Celiac “thing”. They understood and in fact my daughter enjoyed it and ate safely. She did not get sick. It was a little pricey for the quantity but that’s the GF tax or maybe just cost of food in San Diego. Regardless it was worth it because there was NOTHING she could eat at the airport or on the airplane. She would have been starving! Thanks Cafe 160!!
Oct 2022 Review:
They will be very careful if you guide them. I ordered corn tortilla-based tacos, which is less likely in the prep to come across other gluten containing ingredients. The order that is goes to the cook is marked ‘CELIAC’ and so was my food container. I’ll eat here again. Bonus: there are GF locally baked brownies and cchip cookies for sale near the register!
Previous review, circa 2017:
Yep, they made me a hot Reuben sandwich and they use Cook's bread. I wrote notes in the online order form that said to change gloves and use different utensils than gluten foods and they must have done that. Sandwich was pretty and pricey, but its worth the cost of non0cross contaminated food.
Perfect place for a quick stop. Had the Cobb salad. But what I loved about this lunch coffee shop was that everything was clearly labeled. The lady behind the counter was sweet and welcoming to all my questions. The gluten free muffins and brownies were individually wrapped and in a basket on the counter. Felt very safe ordering food here.
I love this place and eat here often! My daughter and I both have celiac and we’ve never been sick after eating here. It’s so easy to order online and pickup with zero worries thanks the the little button that says celiac. Just that button and do not worry. Your food is safe! The staff is fully trained and kitchen is setup to prevent cross contamination for celiac. Hooray!! The gf sandwiches on local dedicated gf bakery bread are so delicious. They even have gf muffins, cookies, brownies available from a local dedicated gf bakery. Oh and fab salads (yes you can even have gf croutons!) and so many other good things. It’s amazing! To top it all off, they are so kind and thankful for the business. They support over 20 local businesses by providing their products. All around A+++ place. They are only open during the week days and are a bit hidden in an office building but it is well worth seeking them out. :)
Very happy with the sandwich I got here. The place is a little hard to find but once we did, my partner could get something with lots of gluten and me not. In fact, they accommodated my other sensitivities too. They have some sandwiches that aren't made with cheese so I didn't have to compromise for my dairy issues. They offered to put other veggies on my sandwich because I couldn't have tomato. Lots of restaurants wouldn't offer that. Their gf bread was good, held together better than most, and wasnt teensy like some. They used a different cutting board for my sandwich. Super pleased!
The best gluten free options anywhere. Easy to forget you're actually eating gluten free when you bite into one of their sandwiches. 💜💛💚
I moved into this neighborhood a few months ago and while unpacking needed lunch and as luck would have it I found Good on ya deli. They have an impressive menu and yes the gluten free options are endless! I brought my mom who is vegan and gluten free there and it quickly became one of her new favorites as well. The food is delicious and it is joyous eating at a deli where you know they really understand what GF means!
Great little deli in Kearny Mesa. Great lunch options for those that are a gluten free diet.
For one lunch, I almost forgot I was eating gluten free! I had a #13 sandwich, which was grilled, on the gf sourdough rosemary bread! Amazing!! The soup was delish too.
