Review of Cafe Abyssinia

3511 Magazine St, New Orleans, LA 70115

Overall Rating

Review

This is an Ethiopian restarant in Uptown New Orleans. The meal consists of multiple piles of food (numerous vegetarian options, chicken, beef, lamb, fish dishes) on a bed of injera to be shared communally. Injera is a delicious, spongy bread made from teff, an ancient grain, and is completely gluten-free. All the dishes are gluten- free except baklava for dessert. We often take home extra injera to use for wraps at home. There is no alcohol, but you can BYOB and they provide glasses. There is a small covered outdoor seating area.
