I went here last night for dinner. Upon walking in, we asked the waiter if they had gluten free pasta where he responded “of course.” He did not seem like he knew what that meant. I asked him again when we ordered drinks, and let him know I’m celiac and have an extremely bad allergy and the pasta must be gluten free. I let him know one more time when the food came out, and he said everything was fine. I was already nervous because the pasta that was served was gnocchi, which an inexperienced chef might belief is gf because it’s partly made of potatoes. I should have trusted my gut but took a few bites of the pasta. It was not long until i tasted the flour. I went to the back where the chef was, and asked to see the package they used for the pasta. Sure enough, it was not gluten free at all. This restaurant is not experienced and the staff does not have knowledge of important food allergies if they thought gnocchi was gluten free. I let them know this was extremely serious and I could end up in the hospital. They apologized and obviously did not charge me for the pasta, but this is a serious problem. It’s the first time in my 2 year diagnosis this happened to me and I will probably never order gluten free pasta again. I would have been better off with a salad!
