Cafe Audrey is one of our go-to local restaurants. Two in our family are GF, Myself (Auto-immune Gluten Intolerant) and my daughter (NAGS), and have never been sick after eating here. We’ve eaten here regularly over the past 3 years. Their GF pancakes are better than any traditional pancake I’ve ever had! Fluffy and soft and available in all of their fun styles like Apple Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice or Cinnamon Roll. Or our fave, fresh blueberry with cinnamon butter. The menu is marked and the staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating- including which potato products are GF (sliced, home style potatoes) and which are not (commercially produced fries and home fries) - since they do not have a dedicated fryer. They have GF bread to accommodate sandwiches (and their dessert-like cinnamon toast!) and the self-serve coffee bar is awesome.
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I got gluten free pancakes and an omelette. The omelette came with gluten free bread. I told them I needed gluten free for a gluten allergy. They informed me it wasn’t a gluten free kitchen but they do clean the grill and take precautions. I don’t think the two previous reviews were fair. Anytime you call a restaurant you need to ask for a manager or the chef. Anywhere I have been that has gluten free breads charges for it. I’m grateful they have gluten free options. Food was great!!!
I wish there was an option for zero stars. Called to verify they had gluten free options. Whoever answered said "well I don't know!" And then there was dead air. I almost asked her if she could find someone and check, but I decided I wasn't going to chance being waited on by someone who obviously was annoyed by the question. I wish restaurants would only provide gluten free options if they really take the time to train their staff as well as not treat gf diners like we are a problem.
Delicious gluten free pancakes with cinnamon butter for the win! They also offer gluten free bread.
I had wanted a burger, but was told the extra charge was $2, so I opted for pancakes instead at around half the cost. I was very excited for not just GF pancakes, but pumpkin spice GF pancakes. The pancake itself was not bad, but the flavor was very spiced to the point that it tasted very metallic, not at all balanced and no pumpkin flavor to be had.
Any sandwich can be modified, and Audrey's special with gf bread is very safe. I have a wheat allergy and Crohn's and haven't had any issues there, but as with most restaurants cross contamination is possible (common fryers etc), so be cautious and don't order anything that seems questionable whatsoever. Also, the review that says they don't have gf pancakes is incorrect.
Ultimately the food ended up being tasty, but we went because we heard they had gluten-free pancakes. They did not. Their menu simply states gluten-free options available, but the server knew nothing except "we have toast and buns." I'm certain she had no idea what gluten even is, and it took a while to come up with a meal. I recommend with caution.
