1st time visitor... came all the way from the west side just for the Mardi gras special menu. Catfish po'boy and 'beignets' (glorified funnel cake balls) were amazing!! Ordered shrimp/duck/andouille gumbo... no shrimp in my bowl and def lacking in creole flavor/spice, but still quite good... just not $12 a bowl good. The 'paczki' were so disappointing tho... Overly fried, crispy grease biscuits. Would've been better off filling those little 'beignets' puffs with custard and jam... now that I'd go back for! Paczki, not so much.

This place is a gem! It’s a 100% dedicated gluten free facility and the food is amazing. The lemon bar crepe is a favorite. Best French fries I’ve ever had. Also love their specialty pop up items.

I don’t think there’s anything more that needs to be said about Cafe Avalaun. The place is the legendary. I’ve been to several dedicated GF restaurants, and i fully believe Cafe Avalaun is among the best. So i figured I would review to update, since there hasn’t been a review in a while.

Throughout Covid they have remained open, with curbside pickup. They have also had several specials as well (Calzones and Crepechangas were stellar). Recently they came out with a Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich menu item. Honestly, if you live within 3 hours of Cafe Avalaun, have celiac/NCGS, and haven’t made the trip, it would be worth it! (Just for the chicken sandwiches if not anything else)

Cafe Avalaun is the most amazing gluten free restersunt I’ve ever been to. Their staff is full of very kind people, and they make sure they do their best to make your food and get it to you quickly. Their food is absolutely delicious and I have never once had any reaction eating anything there. I have severe celiac disease and I give this restaurant an A+!

I. Love. This. Place. I have brought all my friends here and all my family. It's a 40 minute drive for me but I do it happily. Amazing food with options and no worry. I would highly recommend the Philly cheese crepe and lavender lemonade.

Our Thanksgiving hosts specially catered a Meal for me (Celiac) from here and I am so grateful. The food was delicious and most importantly I didn’t get sick. The Chili sweet Potatoes were especially amazing. I had turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and vegan green beans. I love this place. Thanks so much for offering Thanksgiving catering. A++++

Baked good are delicious. Especially the banana nut bread. Chicken and waffles was good as well. Slow service and not the most attentive. Food came out at separate times and all my mom got was a loaded mashed potato bowl and she got it way after I got my chicken and waffles. They were out of most vegetables for the Potato bowl

LOVE THIS PLACE! It is a dedicated gluten free restaurant that serves great breakfast and lunch items. The crepes (they have both savory and sweet) are amazing! I also recommend the Cuban sandwich - they put a little bit of spicy sauerkraut on it which makes it SO GOOD. The Fast Sammy breakfast sandwich is made with a homemade gf biscuit that is so good you’d never know it is gluten free. It is also a peanut-free restaurant (I also have a peanut allergy) and items that have nuts and dairy in them are clearly marked. This place is great for vegan and vegetarian options as well.

I absolutely love this place. I love the Croque Madame so much that I can't bring myself to try anything else. My parents always ask to eat here when they visit from Maryland. They ate gluten-free crepes in Quebec City and said they weren't nearly as good as these. Staff is extremely friendly and sweet.

Not delicious for gluten free food, just plain delicious period! The Lemon Bar and Philly Cheesecrepe were my favorites, but everything was amazing. Service is a little slow, but worth the wait. Now, Cafe Avalaun, could you please open a location in Massachusetts?? Seriously. I mean it!

So pretty much amazing. Crepes(sweet/savory), paninis, cold wraps, salads, omelettes, eggs. And they have a coffee bar (unsweet almond milk and coconut milk are their dog options). I had their Grazing Goat crepe and it was phenomenal 😍

Maybe we were there on a bad day ( the restaurant was empty ) but the food was bland, the staff was less then personable, like we were bothering them. The tables were dirty. It's a pleasure and appreciated to have a gluten free restaurant! This is my second visit. The food is good. It's not fabulous! My first visit I had a paleo Deja Vu bowl. It was lacking any real exciting layers even though it was braised beef, whipped white veggies, greens. Lots of room for improvements in taste and servings. The size for $12.00 was an estimated 4 ounces of food. Today we had Philly crepe and Notella and beet and greens salad. Decent just not exciting. No stomach though! We will be back.
