This is my all time favorite place to eat. I have Celiac Disease and I have never gotten sick after eating there. The Cafe has food that I can’t get anyplace else. It’s delicious 💕.
Baked good are delicious. Especially the banana nut bread. Chicken and waffles was good as well. Slow service and not the most attentive. Food came out at separate times and all my mom got was a loaded mashed potato bowl and she got it way after I got my chicken and waffles. They were out of most vegetables for the Potato bowl
This is a designated gluten free not free café. They make everything from scratch and tried to purchase local farm fresh eggs and meat. They have amazing gluten-free crapes and they are Paleo friendly they also have gluten-free dairy free crapes. This is a good restaurant for vegetarians also and vegans.
Amazing food! We were so impressed be the allergy friendly options and tasty food we bought dinner to go as well. I have allergies to gluten, dairy and eggs the chef was very accommodating. My favorite dish was the Italian sandwich on the vegan bread. The vegan bread was delicious!!!
My husband stole part of my waffle... and he has no food allergies. I ordered the chicken and waffles which was quite tasty. His Cleveland crêpe was delicious. There were so many delicious looking dishes being ordered and brought out.
The food here is great! Everything is gluten free. The folks are extremely nice and we were pleased to be able to eat outside with our dog.
Super friendly staff and dog friendly too! We sat outside and had amazing celiac safe food on our road trip. The croque madame crepe was BOMB so tasty and the coffee was very good. Nice to have a chai and it’s delicious.
LOVE THIS PLACE! It is a dedicated gluten free restaurant that serves great breakfast and lunch items. The crepes (they have both savory and sweet) are amazing! I also recommend the Cuban sandwich - they put a little bit of spicy sauerkraut on it which makes it SO GOOD. The Fast Sammy breakfast sandwich is made with a homemade gf biscuit that is so good you’d never know it is gluten free. It is also a peanut-free restaurant (I also have a peanut allergy) and items that have nuts and dairy in them are clearly marked. This place is great for vegan and vegetarian options as well.
Great food, friendly staff! A lovely lunch during a long trip back to NY. Dedicated GF facility
Unbelievable. They won’t let anyone in with a dish that may have gluten. The food is amazing and I recommend this place to anyone with wheat, soy, and peanut allergies, as there is none in the store whatsoever, and they have very good vegan and vegetarian options too!
Very pricey but absolutely fantastic food! Certified GF, as well as other allergens. Huge display case of allergen friendly baked goods, as well as coffees, teas, and crepes and wraps of all kinds.
nice people great choices
Everything is gluten free and delicious! Highly recommend!!!
Dedicated facility, good for people with multiple allergies or food intolerances. They have an amazing staff and are willing to show the ingredients for all foods.
Dedicated gluten free and fantastic breakfast and lunch
Great Food. Friendly Staff. I got delicious hot chocolate, blueberry scone and chicken and waffles :)
I absolutely love this place. I love the Croque Madame so much that I can't bring myself to try anything else. My parents always ask to eat here when they visit from Maryland. They ate gluten-free crepes in Quebec City and said they weren't nearly as good as these. Staff is extremely friendly and sweet.
the food is amazing, but the service is some of the worst I have ever experienced. always
What a gem! My husband and I were in town visiting friends and we ate as many meals as possible here. The food is absolutely delicious! Not delicious for gluten free food, just plain delicious period! The Lemon Bar and Philly Cheesecrepe were my favorites, but everything was amazing. Service is a little slow, but worth the wait. Now, Cafe Avalaun, could you please open a location in Massachusetts?? Seriously. I mean it!
If I lived closer I would invest in this company and probably live on the premises. Amazing food and knowledgeable staff.
This place is amazing! Everything on their menu is gluten free, soy free, and peanut free. They have labels for vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, nut free, paleo, primal, corn free, AIP. So pretty much amazing. Crepes(sweet/savory), paninis, cold wraps, salads, omelettes, eggs. And they have a coffee bar (unsweet almond milk and coconut milk are their dog options). I had their Grazing Goat crepe and it was phenomenal 😍
Excellent selection of food and coffee for the GF person. Absolutely worth the trip.
Good but not absolutely amazing-the best part is not worrying. The tacos were not very good. The chicken and waffles, however, are worth trying.
This is an incredible place! Food is delicious and EVERYTHING is gluten free.
It was amazing and completely gluten free! I had chicken and waffles and they were awesome 🤤🤤- Daniel 8 yrs old (Celiac disease)
The food is great. They have an excellent selection.
Yes. Everything is gluten free, however I extremely underwhelmed. Maybe we were there on a bad day ( the restaurant was empty ) but the food was bland, the staff was less then personable, like we were bothering them. The tables were dirty. I'll give this place another try but very disappointed as of right now :(
amazing options for GF
Absolutely amazing. Can't say enough about how great this restaurant is. If you have celiac disease you have to go.
WONDERFUL!!!!!! Great food, coffee, and service!! We love Cafe Avalaun and will definitely be back!!!
Delightful food awesome atmosphere and has no gluten in the restaurant at all. There are vegan, paleo, soy free, and dairy free options.
It's a pleasure and appreciated to have a gluten free restaurant! This is my second visit. The food is good. It's not fabulous! My first visit I had a paleo Deja Vu bowl. It was lacking any real exciting layers even though it was braised beef, whipped white veggies, greens. Lots of room for improvements in taste and servings. The size for $12.00 was an estimated 4 ounces of food. Today we had Philly crepe and Notella and beet and greens salad. Decent just not exciting. No stomach though! We will be back.
This is a wonderful dedicated business. The jasmine tea was wonderful! We had chicken and waffles, the Cuban, and a s'mores crepe. Everything was fabulous...nothing bad to say! Just wish o could give more stars!
Loved this place! As a highly sensitive celiac it's rare for me to eat out safely. The food was tasty, with no after effects. They have alot of breakfast choices including specialty crepes, muffins, etc... and for lunch one of the popular items are paninis. I'd highly recommend this place. Double check their website before going though, they have limited hours. Enjoy!
Excellent food and completely gluten free!
I am sitting in Cafe Avalaun writing this review. OUTSTANDING food. The Croque Madame is excellent, very tasty. Chocolate chip muffin -wonderful. good tea and I am buying a few items from the bakery case before I go. EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE. they cater to various needs, but primarily gluten free and vegan. I plan to return tomorrow, before I leave the area. BTW, this could not be more convenient as it is midway between a job location and my hotel. I wish I lived nearer, as I could come to Cafe Avalaun every day!
Fantastic options. Gluten free. Dairy free. Nut free. Soy free. Took great care. Awesome place!
Awesome ! Good flavored and lots of options . We need more like this in Cleveland . I bet a full sized restaurant would do well with this style menu . This is a solid healthy breakfast/lunch bakery option . The bakery is small but they take special orders on breads and such , very cool .
Awesome food!! Loved the Paleo Bowl!! My husband has a dairy free breakfast crepe!! Will definitely return when I'm in the area!!
This place is amazing period.
Gluten Free Restaurant. The Lemon Bar Sweet Crepe is a must!
This place is amazing. Especially if you have celiac like myself it's great to eat out without the worry of possibly getting sick. Not to mention their baked goods and cappuccino is delicious. The only issue I had was I ate to much because I have no self control. Kudos to cafe avalaun.
we are here for a hockey tournament and stop here for lunch. my kids love this place . we are going back tomorrow. !!! wish they had one in my home town.
The crepes were really amazing. Lovely flavors and hearty--was a great way to start the day!
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant for the very first time, but I intend to return over and over again! We all enjoyed the food and treats immensely! It has been way too long since I've had a panini, and I relished every bite. They have specialty coffees and bakery items too, which are excellent! The crepes were perfect and nothing in this place tastes gluten free. As a Celiac, I felt like a kid in a candy store! We took plenty of bakery bread and treats home for another day. I recommend it highly!!!!!
everything we tried was quite good. we had a savory crepe - turkey, brie, pesto and spinach, sweet crepe - the lemon bar, and buttermilk breakfast sandwich. as well as some gluten free creme puffs to go which we amazing! !!! so happy to finally have a great place to eat and not get sick in the Cleveland area. It was well worth the hour drive. I literally cannot wait to go back. tell all you're celiac friends!!
Super yummy! Very friendly and cute place. You need to check this place out!
Service SUCKS. Food is reallygood.
Yum! Gluten free crepes, what a treat! We came in for dinner and had trouble choosing which savory crepes we wanted to try, they all sounded good. Everyone enjoyed their selection.
Café Avalaun is a dedicated 100% GF bakery, crêperie, and coffee shop. Just walking in for the first time was a little overwhelming, looking at the entire menu, and knowing that there is absolutely nothing there that is not safe for me to eat, I had a Clevelander crêpe for my first go -- mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions, served with crème fraîche (think pierogi). I followed it with a bacon walnut maple glazed doughnut, and the Kenya Nyeri Gura Crooked River Coffee. It was all truly gorgeous.I had a friend with me who does NOT eat GF. She had the same -- a Clevelander and a doughnut. She agreed that the food was absolutely delicious, and the texture was perfect. She also commented that the atmosphere reminded her of a few favorite cafes she used to frequent in Seattle. This is not apologetic substitute food. This is GF that will even thrill gluten eaters, and the atmosphere is somehow body open and cozy.I brought home several pastries, and I'm pretty sure they are going to disappear faster than I intended. The location is completely out of the way for me, but it's worth the trip. I think I'll be working my way through trying out the whole menu whenever I find myself on that side of the metro Cleveland area. I'd give it 10 stars if that were possible.
