Food was delicious and did not make me sick at all. The chef came out to talk to me before my meal (preordered by e-mailing Disney Special Diets) and asked if I preferred strawberries or a side salad with the Monte Cristo. Chef confirmed that there is a dedicated fryer as well. I was very worried about cross-contamination but as a symptomatic celiac, had no issues whatsoever. Also came marked with an allergy stick. I can't wait to return next time :)
Disney is always great with allergies. I really wanted to try a gf monte cristo and my husband emailed their Special Diets department in advance. Unfortunately when we got there they did not have a record of our request. However our server was amazing and was able to accommodate us because someone else who preordered one cancelled. My point is, make sure you reach out to them and also maybe confirm closer to your trip! As for the food, it was pretty good and always comes out marked. They do ask about allergies and provide a separate menu.
Gluten free menu. If you want the Monte Cristo you need to order it in advance by emailing the Disneyland Special Diets team at least 24 hours in advance but no more than 2 weeks in advance.
The Monte Cristo itself is the same one served at Blue Bayou, and is ok. The batter is similar in consistency and texture to a corn dog — which lacks the crisp crunch of the non-gf version.
Even though the Monte Cristo is a fried sandwich, it’s served with fruit (strawberries in my case) instead of fries. It seems it should be easy to prepare some GF fries since it’s a special order meal anyway.
Other options include: beef bourguignon, and blackened chicken. Kids choices available as well.
Amazing beef bourguignon!! It came with mashed potatoes and carrots. It was an amazing meal and I’m so glad we went. This restaurant does a stand by waiting list, it only took us about 20 mins to get a table. We also got burrata and prosciutto as an appetizer (gf). I will definitely come back here next time I’m at Disney.
Gluten free monte Cristo!! So delicious. You absolutely have to plan ahead to dine here and get one of these. I emailed the special diets team 2 weeks prior to my visit. Even with that and verifying at the location the night of my dining, it still took nearly an hour for my meal to be made. I will say it was worth the wait because I loved the monte Cristo! They offer a ham and cheese as well as a four cheese version. My husband ordered the short rib off of the gluten free menu so I got to try that as well. Good taste but our piece of short rib was rather fatty.
Delicious GF monte cristos! The other comments saying the menu is small is because you have to email special diets ahead of time for more options like the monte Cristo. They also offer these at blue bayou, still need an email though. I’ve eaten here a million times and never gotten sick, same with my other friends who have other allergies.
Very good shrimp and grits. The chicken was a bit tough, but flavorful. The seasonal vegetables (carrots, Brussels sprouts, beans, and corn) were all excellent. The grits were nice and soft. The rice for the chicken was also well cooked and flavorful.
