Just about the best gluten free cupcakes you can get!! And bonus they are so fun!! I’m extremely sensitive and I’ve never gotten sick from them (been endless times) They have a separate area for the gluten free cupcake prep. The staff is well trained and always seem very cautious.
I have been here 3 times now and have not had any issues. I am a very sensitive Celiac. I watched the young ladies take the cupcakes out of the back and frost them in a separate area of their kitchen. And the cupcakes are delicious. They have said they have a separate kitchen for their gluten free baked goods so that’s a huge plus! I love this place!
True coeliacs beware! Yes, Cake Gypsy may offer gluten free cupcakes....good for them...but do you know why you may still not be feeling well after eating them? It is the frosting....you can't buy a cupcake without frosting....and they use the same bag of frosting on your GF treats as they do on the regular baked goods. Yes, according to the staff "but we wipe off the tip"....apparently they don't realize how very little it takes for cross contamination to impact you. According to the Food and Drug Admin Gluten Free means the item must contain less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten. Do you know what that means? Wiping off the tip, when crumbs from a prior cupcake may be inside the tip means you may be consuming enough to get that auto-immune response going. As one of my family members noted "now I understand why I still feel crappy after eating these". Cake Gypsy, you can do better. Either a) allow people who need to be absolutely GF to buy their treats without frosting (not everyone even LIKES frosting), or b) keep a dedicated bag of frosting on hand....but definitely c) make sure your staff gets trained up a bit more on what needing to be GF really means to your customers, and the impact if your goods are not.
Hands down the best g-f cupcakes I’ve ever had! I believe they can make just about any of the cupcakes they have on display to be g-f.
Edit: beware of cupcake toppings!! I ordered a bunch of g-f cupcakes and one of them had a gluten containing decoration. A disappointing experience but management was very receptive when I reported the issue.
Best gluten free cupcakes I’ve ever had. They can make nearly all of the special, on display cupcakes gluten free.
My personal favorite is the Cubcake….vanilla cupcake, buttercream frosting, topped with sprinkles and gummy bears. The cupcake itself is phenomenal - my boyfriend tried a bite and said it tastes nearly as a good as the non-GF ones. The frosting is to die for, and the specialty cupcakes/toppings are creative (and adorable) and freaking delicious.
Hands down my favorite gluten free dessert place.
Did I mention they have little containers of gluten free cookie dough they sell, also?
The gf cupcakes are amazing but unfortunately have soy in them. Since going soy free recently, I can no longer have them. So sad because they were delish!
Best gluten free cupcakes in all of CT. We've tried them all and they just don't match up to Cake Gypsy. They have GF cake pops and cookies as well. Two locations. Cupcakes are made in a dedicated GF baking facility although this shop does sell items containing gluten as well. The prep space for GF cupcakes and nut free cupcakes are completely separate from the regular work station. We have eaten them regularly for 5 years now and are extremely happy with quality every time. No sticky frozen cupcakes here. I've fed them to gluten eaters and they are shocked that they are Gf. No cakes anymore but will do cupcake "cakes"
