Options are limited for GF. I tend to stick to the tacos and bowls. Their chips are fine too
Food is good but not celiac friendly. Cross contamination has made my daughter sick twice. Also, the staff knowledge of celiac is inconsistent at best. The last time we tried mistakes were made so the manager offered to remake the taco then delivered the GF taco to our table plopped on top of a pile of non GF chips. Not safe for celiac.
Good food and friendly service! However when it comes to being GF friendly, not so much. Here is the reply I received when we contacted corporate: "Although we have menu items that are gluten-free, we cannot guarantee that cross contamination won’t occur" Stacey Kane, VP of Marketing, California Tortilla Group, Inc., 20 Courthouse Square, Suite 206 Rockville, Maryland 20850 301.545.0035
In food court underneath International Spy Museum. This was a great stop to refuel quickly! They have an allergy listing - most of the ingredients are GF - except the flour tortillas - I just asked for the people preparing to change their gloves - which they did and totally fine about doing. Tasty!
I got glutened here after eating the nachos. I asked multiple people behind the counter if the tortilla chips were gluten free, and they all said “yes, except for cross contamination.” However, I had an extreme reaction after eating them and later looked up the allergen menu on their website and found that the “corn tortilla chips” actually contain wheat as an allergen, which is unusual for a Mexican restaurant. I think other things at the restaurant may be gluten free, but I would recommend confirming with the online allergen menu since the staff are not as knowledgeable about allergens.
