I had asked our waitress for a gluten free menu, which they did not have and she said everything on the menu was gluten free except things made with a flour tortilla specifically. I got the slow braised carnitas with corn tortillas and I did have some chips and salsa. Although I did experience symptoms like bloating and painful cramps immediately afterwards. I’m not sure if it was the food directly or if it was possibly cross contamination with the chips being the in the fryer (most likely). All in all, I would be weary about getting the chips.
We came here because of this app. The staff were all happy and friendly. The restaurant filled up just after we came in so it seems very popular. The server was reassuring about most everything being gluten free. One said the fryer wasn’t used for anything with gluten in it - all corn based but another said they did sometimes put flour tortillas in it. But assured me the chips we had were in the fresh oil. It was all really very yummy and so pretty! Hubby had a chicken tortilla soup and I had a shrimp enchilada. Totally enjoyed being able to have the chips and salsa and beans (nice option) after so many Mexican restaurants saying no to me.
We came here because everybody said it was perfect and everybody was knowledgeable here. Nobody knew what the heck were talking about when I mentioned gluten-free. They were confused, so I didn’t even bother trying it. This happens a lot on the site lately I end up disappointed and starving. I really want to trust this app but I can’t when this keeps happening we were hours away from home.
A charming Mexican eatery in the heart of Laguna Beach. You can see the beach and the volleyball players. All of the dishes are made with corn tortillas. Dedicated fryer for chips with wonderful salsa and bean dip. Flour tortillas require a special request. I had cheese enchiladas with green sauce. I have not eaten enchiladas in a restaurant since I was diagnosed. Excellent meal! I wish I lived closer!!
