I'm a neighborhood regular. I love that I can stop in, bring it home, or take visiting friends. Leftovers reheat great in the toaster oven and air fryer. Be aware, there's often a line as it is a small restaurant! Beer and wine, only.

They’ve been GF (excepting the gumbo and the bread) for 100 years. I shared the fried seafood platter (corn-meal) with a fellow celiac and it was incredible.

I was really excited to get gluten free fried food but I was disappointed by this restaurant. The service was terrible and when I went to the bathroom (which I had to pass through the kitchen to get to) I saw how tiny the kitchen was and they use regular bread. I felt sick after eating and knew I was cross contaminated here. It’s nice to get gluten free fried food but I don’t think it’s safe here for celiacs.

We went for dinner and let the waitress know I was celiac, she responded by saying she's been dealing with celiacs longer than most people have known about it. I got the grilled shrimp and fries and tried one fried oyster. Everything was delicious and it's a gluten free kitchen minus the bread. We had the kitchen change gloves before plating my dinner and turned out great

All of the fried fish is gluten free and they also make it milk free if needed. I got the fried catfish and it was good. I would eat here again.

The most delicious gluten free fried oysters and chargrilled oysters. Heaven! Everything is fried in cornmeal and there is nothing with gluten that goes in the fryer. The chargrilled oysters don’t have breadcrumbs. I wish I had ordered more! They are cash only but have an atm.

I love eating here so much that on our last trip to New Orleans I drove away from Tulsa and set Google maps for Casamento’s. I phoned when about 30 minutes out to let them know what I would be ordering for carry out. They dropped the order when I walked into the restaurant so that it would be fresh, and I had a wonderful fried seafood dinner on the deck of my Airbnb a short time later. My husband and I particularly love the cat fish, oysters, and shrimp.

Being in NOLA, it was very exciting to find a place that makes all of their fried seafood gluten free!! The food was all tasty, but the raw oysters were definitely the best! Above all the atmosphere and staff really stood out, they were friendly and fun and made me feel safe to eat! This is clearly an old and classic restaurant run by people who really love food!

All fried food is GF. It very casual and the prices are reasonable. It’s a basic fried seafood restaurant. The fried shrimp were good. It more of a diner. The employees are very knowledgeable. My daughter with celiac had no problems.

ALL fried Seafood is GLUTEN free and HAS BEEN for years - use cornmeal base for frying
To be able to eat fried seafood AND french fries when visiting was AWESOME - if you're a hungry girl like me, don't get a size small for dinner

As the other reviews indicate, GLUTEN FREE FRIED FOOD! This is also written in multiple places on their menu.
However, it was not good fried seafood. I miss fried food as much as the next Celiac, but I was pretty disappointed with the fried oyster, crab claws, shrimp, and catfish plate.
Also, I was very bloated after eating here. Not sure if that meant I ate too much or if I had a reaction? Either way, I won't be back.
I ordered the fried shrimp dinner which comes with french fries, a pickle, and bread. I let our server know I had celiac and asked for them to leave they bread off my plate. She knew her stuff and was very friendly. I could not believe my meal was celiac safe because it looked too good to be true. I haven’t had any reactions and will definitely be back!

A deep-fried dream for people with celiac. The staff was warm and welcoming and knowledgable. We had someone with celiac (me), someone gluten intolerant, and someone with no gluten issues at our table, and the food waitress was able to cater to all our needs. I wanted to cry, the fried seafood platter was so good—dedicated fryer, so no worries there. Also highly recommend the oysters (raw and charcoal grilled), and fries.

Have eaten at Casamentos 5 or 6 times without a problem. All fried seafood is gluten free. They have Redbridge beer. On my last visit, they had a continuous line quite literally out the door, so early is best for lunch. Our server (the owner) was very attentive. The only modification to the seafood platter is to ask for no toast. As busy as they were, the owner came out of the kitchen to tell me that a piece of toast had accidentally been put on my plate and asked if I was celiac. They made me a new plate no problem. 5 stars.

All fried seafood and french fries are gluten free!!! They also have gluten free beer. We had the fried crab claws appetizer and fried oyster dinner - what a treat!!! This place is an institution. It's very casual but Zagat rated. Cash only. They take a long summer vacation - not a bad idea to call before going.

Knowledgeable server! She was extremely reassuring about the safety of the kitchen for a very sensitive celiac.

GF fried food! This place is great. Hole in the wall, looks terrible but the food is delicious and I didn’t get sick. I got the fried shrimp and fried. No CC. They are out, but normally they have GF beer too!
Yes
Great fried food, we had fried crab claws for an appetizer and then I had fried shrimp and French fries, finally fried food that I can eat. celiac safe, the staff is very well educated
Yes
Amazing food and service! Staff was very knowledgeable. The oyster stew is fabulous. The fried oysters are the best I’ve ever had. Fried shrimp was super delicious. Fries are also safe and so good. Highly recommend!
Yes
Didn't get sick, had the seafood platter, fried everything and fries all safe. But I had to give it 4 stars because it was a little bit of a grouchy place, I was afraid to ask questions. They're cash only. To get to the bathroom you walk through the kitchen and behind the people cooking and frying things. It's a little sketch back there. Also you really should try to get there as they open because the line barely moves after that. Took a very long time to get our food. Had raw oysters first and they were not cleaned properly which made me regret ordering them. Also, what we ordered was quite expensive for them to just be throwing everything in a fryer, but that's just one person's opinion. Make sure they don't put bread on your plate!

This place is so good we eat there twice on a trip if we can.
Best chargrilled oysters I've ever had. Fried fish? YES!! Fries? YES!!! Fried oysters? YES!!
I can't stress to you enough how perfect this precious place is.

All fried seafood is completely gluten free. Seafood platter was incredible!

I felt like royalty the first time I went to this resturaunt. The waitress understood I have Celiac, and was cautious to keep bread away from my plate. She was very friendly and helpful. Sadly, the second time I went, the waitress blamed the bread under my gf seafood on the kitchen and suggested I eat around it. Make sure you insist on no bread on your plate!

If you're a fan of fried food, this is the place to go. All batter and fryers are gluten free.

Great service. We got the fried seafood platter to-go and it was delicious. The homemade horseradish ketchup was really good. For a gluten-free girl with a severe gluten allergy having fried seafood was a treat!

OMG so yum! Such a great gf option!
great fried food. service can be spotty. they have given me bread on my food a couple of times. check website to make sure they are open.
The only place in the city that I know of that has gluten free fried seafood. Their crab claws are delicious, calamari, shrimp and oysters - yum!
Yes
Friendly and best fried seafood!
In a city full of great seafood, casamento has stood the test of time by staying in business since 1919! luckily, even this classic has updated over time to accommodate all diners and their seafood batter is now gluten-free! So there's no reason not to indulge in a seafood platter full of oysters, shrimp, crab claws, trout and French fries!
Incredible! So nice to have fried food again, if only for one meal. Really friendly, great food.
The best - just like everyone says. I hadn't had fried anything in almost a year, so it was fun to feel like a normal person again. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Or maybe that was the hot sauce, I dunno. Anyway, the line was long but it was worth the wait. Go ahead and get the seafood platter (with trout!) - you've earned it.

The first time I've been able to eat fried foods. Instead of " 3 things I CAN have" it was " you can have everything on the menu except 3 things". It tasted good. Had to wait for a little but for a table, WELL worth the wait for anyone with Celiac Disease. I will be back!!!
Yes
Food was great and not a bit of gluten! I shared the fried seafood platter with someone else and it was the perfect portion. Really hit the spot
This was heaven! Awesome fried calamari and crab claws; can't wait to go back for soft shell crab!
Awesome. And they serve Redbridge Beer. The fried shrimp and the fried trout are top notch.
