We had already reserved a table, but shortly before our visit, the Central was voted the best restaurant in the world. Expectations were accordingly high. I will not go into detail about the food here and everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to pay the high price for it. For me, it was a once in a lifetime event worth having, a great experience and the food was really the best I have ever had.
But now to the gluten question. I stated when I made the reservation that I had to eat gluten-free and was given a perfect gluten-free menu. It is usually, but not always, the case that this works well with fine-dining restaurants and even more disappointing when it doesn't. Central however did a marvelous job with the gluten-free menu and I didn't have to make any compromises at all (e.g. the bread course, which was modified for me, was equally creative and unique in the gluten-free version).
