Enjoyable, fresh taco foods in a nice space, with a good amount of indoor seating and four outside tables. Chaia is tucked away on a quiet street just one block off the busy intersection of Gallery Place / Chinatown metro (7th & H Sts.) Limited menu but everything is safe to eat!!!

My first visit: a regular customer recommended the nachos and am glad I ordered extra sweet potatoes. I would have preferred even more.

Return visits: I have ordered the black bean enchiladas with herby rice and have tried all the vegetarian tacos.

Favorite dishes: nachos and black bean enchiladas. Enchiladas are more filling.

Nacho feedback: I’ve ordered nachos 3x. Twice I paid $2 extra for more sweet potatoes. Unfortunately, the quantity of sweet potatoes appeared to be the same to my order without “extra,” which is a bummer since they’re a tasty bonus to the nachos. Also wish nacho toppings were layered on between chips or slightly more toppings were added to the order overall.

While in DC, I ate here twice. First for dinner, second for lunch a few days later. Excellent food, self serve POS system allowed me to enter my allergies felt safe immediately, as a celiac.

I tried the following during my two visits: mushroom tacos, sweet potato tacos, quesadillas, refried beans. Also, food was served in biodegradable plates/bowls. Staff was friendly.

Cleanliness was top notch: tables, floors and restrooms were clean and orderly.

I had the opportunity to visit both the Chinatown and Georgetown locations and they were both incredible! Everything here is 100% gf. The Kale and Potato tacos stand out and their black beans are so incredibly creamy! They had two gf dessert options including a cinnamon cookie from the 100% gf bakery, Rise. It’s casual and affordable. The margaritas are fantastic too. Cannot wait to go back!

This place was awesome! We got chips and salsa, mushroom quesadillas with vegan cheese, and the taco trio (black bean/egg and the chipotle sweet potato tacos). They had vegan cheese options for almost everything. Soooo glad we went there during our short stay!

Absolutely incredible! My husband is a symptomatic celiac and we’re both vegetarian. This was both safe, quick and maybe the best tacos I’ve ever had! Strongly recommend!

I was hesitant about this place because I thought it was all vegan and I love my meat and dairy. Turns out it can be vegan but has dairy and eggs. Everything I got was amazing flavor and filling. Will definitely be back!

Update. I was in DC for a conference and after I went here the first time I came back everyday for lunch and twice for dinner. It was so good. I tried just about everything on the menu. Highly recommend and super close to the convention center.

Excellent family-style black bean enchiladas with a green chili style sauce, in a 9x13 size pan. Excellent green rice, with a little zing of lime and some cilantro, Pepitas and cheese. Very spicy hot sauce is available in a bottle. We will be back.

Love Chaia tacos! I have been to both the Georgetown and Chinatown locations multiple times. The creamy potato kale taco is wonderful! Can get pricey, but worth it.

This place is amazing!!! Great unique flavor combinations and plenty of options for everyone to try. It was like a flavor fusion that wakes up your taste buds! Yes, it is a vegetarian restaurant, but after eating on consecutive nights one of our family members who does eat meat said "I forgot it was vegetarian it was so good!" They also do not have gluten and with one person with Celiac and another with a gluten sensitivity, this place is PERFECT because we didn't have to worry about cross contamination. I would HIGHLY recommend you try this place, even if it means a short walk or Metro ride. Food is great, staff are friendly because it is one of a kind you won't be upset that you did!

I was so happy to find this restaurant on the app. The staff were so kind and answered my questions about other allergens (soy). The mushroom enchilada was crazy good, the egg taco was delicious. Would definitely return.

Everything is GF. Vegan options are available, but they serve non-vegan by default (for example, the standard cheese given is real cheese). Eggs are available, but no meat. Food tasted good, but the quesadillas are the best option on the menu IMHO

Incredible food (entirely GF) even coming from a meat eater. Had the tostada with eggs added and the cauliflower soup and it was all DELICIOUS.they have Kombucha on tap and I wish I had found this place earlier in my trip. Would have come multiple times.

Definitely feel like its food you should eat in restaurant though, not sure it would be good as takeout.
