We stayed at the Rydges Rotaroua and this is the in-house resturaunt. There is a big buffet for breakfast and dinner (unsure about lunch) which has a lot of GF marked dishes. As coeliacs this did not suit us due to cross contamination but the kitchen took our seperate orders and cooked fresh each morning for us. Dinner time offers an a la carte menu as well as the buffet dinner which has HUGE portion sizes. The variety of GF options isn’t huge for return customers but when your exhausted from a long day of exploring it’s great to eat and go up to your room.
The staff were extremely accommodating and understanding about our requirements, and a shout out to Murray who was fabulous!
They were happy to clean their coffee machine milk wands before making my morning lattes as oat milk is used.
I cannot truely explain how big portion sizes are. My 5yo son didn’t want anything on the dinner menu so I ordered him a ham toastie one night and a plain beef quesadilla on another night. The ham toastie came out with nearly a whole loaf of bread! 3 sandwiches in total and each one had 3 layers of bread held together with skewers! Not done in a toastie machine but for a very fussy autistic coeliac, both dinners were a winner!
