Have not eaten there, but called ahead to ask about gluten-free options. I was told everything can be made gluten free. However, when I asked what kind of soy sauce they use, they said “the regular kind”. Huh? He had no idea that some soy sauces contain gluten. Was dissatisfied with lack of knowledge. Wouldn’t risk eating here. Which is a shame.
I want to give this place 5 stars because the food is delicious. However, they are not knowledgeable about gluten free. I asked about preparation of food for cross contamination and if they make their own curry sauce, both of which they provided seemingly knowledgeable responses. So I proceeded to order the "gluten free" yellow curry with chicken. The dish was delicious, but full of gluten. I had hoped that my sickness that ensued shortly after, and lasted for over 10 days, was unrelated to my visit there. Then my son went in to try and buy some of their curry base to surprise me and was told that they purchase the curry base from a local supplier and when they showed him the bottle of the paste (so he would know what to look for at the supply shop) the ingredient clearly listed "wheat" as an ingredient. I was sooooo disappointed, I had really hoped I had found a safe and delicious Thai restaurant.
very aware food is great my wife is celiac now for5 years so she is very glutten sensitive and she has never had a reaction here
Seeking authentic, easy to order from the menu GF Thai Cuisine? Then look no further than Charm Thai in downtown Chandler! Their menu is clearly marked with Gluten Free & Vegetarian options and the servers were very knowledgeable! On top of that, the food was AWESOME! The best, authentic Thai food that I've found (Chandler/Tempe area)! My fave is the Pad Prik King (spicy!) and their Miang Kiang Khum & Crispy Kabocha Pumpkin appetizers (hand rolled in rice flour & deep fried in separate fryer - YUM!). To top that, they have an AWESOME happy hour everyday 5-7pm (happy hour pricing on wide selection of appetizers & drinks - including GF options)
