Very impressed by their precautions. They do use parchment paper on their gluten free sandwiches, a new cutting board and knife, and change gloves. They gave us new chips instead of pulling from the communal one too. We went at night when it was packed, and the cook did accidentally use the same knife, but they were super understanding when we asked to have it remade. They also have dairy free cheese! Any of their sandwiches can be made gluten free.
As others have said, they have gf bread and take many precautions to avoid cross contamination. They change gloves before handling the bread and use parchment paper when pressing the gf bread on the grill. The bread they use wasn’t amazing but it was a good grilled cheese overall. I didn’t get sick.
I had such a great experience here! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, which I always appreciate. They assured me that all the ingredients for my grilled cheese were gotten from fresh containers and my sandwich would be cooked separately. They also bring the gluten free sandwich out separately to ensure nothing gets mixed up. I tried the Nashville hot chicken grilled cheese and it was to die for! The bread is also surprisingly large for gf bread, which was a real treat. The chips that come with it are such a nice compliment as well. We also ordered a side of pickles which were delicious. I was so excited to see they have 2 other locations in New Hampshire and hope to find myself back here or at one of their other locations in my future travels!
Great experience! Staff are knowledgeable and have allergen protocol. They have gluten free bread, use parchment paper on the panini press, and clean down the entire workspace before making your sandwich. They bring out the gluten free food separately as well. It was FANTASTIC, perfect comfort food ❤
Staff knowledgable and kind in explaining GF choices. The Baconater and tomato soup lunch was just what A cold day needed!
A yummy grilled cheese and tomato soup lunch? Yes please! Safe experience here and many choices. They take GF seriously.
Late arrival into Portland. So our first choice restaurant was closing at 9pm . We ordered ahead and this place was amazing . Very safe - even bagged our gf order separately . The Godmother w tomato soup and chips . Make it your first choice so good. Great to pack to go for schooner tour as well.
Prefacing this by saying that I am neurotic about restaurants because of having Celiac Disease, but I felt so comfortable here. I was practically dancing in my seat eating my bacon grilled cheese. I communicated that I had an allergy when I ordered and they were reassuring that they take precautions in preparation.
This place is awesome. Staff was very informative on menu items. I got their regular grilled cheese with GF bread with their tomato soup. Very very good and def will be going back.
We went to two locations, first in Conway then later to Portland. Both had GF bread and knowledgeable about if it was a sensitivity or celiac. I was pleased with their attention to it. The actual grilled cheese was good too! That’s why we went back to Portland. My kids had to stop there again on our trip.
Gluten free bread, vegan cheese available for all the sandwich options and it was delicious!
