I went to the zoo today, unfortunately all they could provide that was safe for celiac was sodas. I did see some Vickies Chips, but if I remember correctly they were cross-contaminated. For less sensitive people, they had pizza with cauliflower crust but it’s cooked in the same oven. I knew all of this when I was planning my trip and brought a thermos to heat up some pasta leftovers in my hotel room (there is a microwave and fridge), and some snack bars. The staff had no problem with me bringing my own food.
Honestly terrible experience. Went here based on others good reviews and I'm glad they had a better experience than we did. We walked in, no one said anything... we asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves they said yes and nothing else. We waited then realized people were ordering by the door. Okay so we got up ordered our gluten free pizza and 2 cups of ranch. We then asked about safety precautions, Girl looked confused and seemed new so we took our chances and mentioned to the cook as we walked back by that the GF was "allergy related" they said ok and nothing else. Pizza sucked, tables were ALL very dirty, we didn't get our ranch had to go up and get it separately and they tried to charge us again for it. I said no we have already paid for it when we ordered... girl just stared at me and then another girl handed me 1 cup I said no we got 2... finally got handed the second and went to eat. Got cross contaminated in the end of it all and the service was awful. Don't eat here.
Pizza With a View (not Grizzly Grill) at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has a gluten-free pizza. I asked the cashier when ordering about safety. She said they clean the area when making a gluten-free pizza and that the gluten-free crust doesn't touch anything related to the gluten pizzas. They are made in the same oven, so if that bothers you, you may want to skip it. We ordered and ate pizzas here and they were good. We were so relieved because this was not to be found on the website and we had been making do with snacks we brought with us. We were hungrier than we expected and needed this very much. The view was also great.
Visiting the Zoo with my family and we started to get hungry. We assumed that they would not have any gluten free food, so were hoping to at least get a snack or some fruit. We were happy to find out that the Grizzly Grill provided several gluten free options. The Asian section is all Gluten Free according to the menu. We opted for pizza. The chef said that there is a dedicated GF pizza oven, cutting board, and utensils. He washed his hands thoroughly, put on new gloves, and made our pizza in the back. He put the pizza on parchment paper on top of the cookie sheet before putting it in the oven. The pizza was good and the girls were happy.
